Back to Fighting Styles
The deadly sword technique that the protagonist, Kenshin Himura uses in the series.  This technique is probably the most effective and powerful style in all of the series, and I wouldn't doubt that statement at all.  This style uses various counters, using god-like speed.  So fast, most people won't be able to see it with their eyes!  This style is also perfect for any assassin, which Kenshin once was as Hitokiri Battousai.  This style would kill anyone who gets effected by it, unless they use Kenshin's sword, the Sakaba.

The Attacks:

Ryu Tsui Sen:  Well all great things start out small.  This move is the most basic move of this style.  It's pretty powerful considering it's the style's most basic attack.  Anyway, this is an aerial move, in which the user attacks, slashing from above.

Ryu Tsui Sen-Zan:  Same as the Ryu Tsui Sen except that instead of a slash, it's a pierce.

Hi Ryu Sen:  A move rarely used.  It's only used in desperate situations.  It's when the user takes the sword from the sheathe with the left hand.  More of a surprise move, which is why it's barely used.

Ryu Kan Sen:  One of my favorite moves.  It's a powerful counterattack in which the user uses his god-like speed to dodge an attack, then quickly slashes behind his opponent's neck.  Can be very deadly unless used with the Sakaba.

Ryu Kan Sen-Tsumuji:  A more improved version of the Ryu Kan Sen.  The user will go as fast as he can and leaps towards the attack.  He then spins around it, and finally finishes by attacking at the opponent's neck.  A very powerful and effective counterattack.

Ryu Sou Sen:  A very impressive move indeed.  It's a previous form of the lethal Kuzu Ryu Sen.  Anyway, this move strikes at 9 points of the body,(head, left shoulder, right shoulder, left arm, right arm, left leg, right leg, between the legs, and the chest), and does so randomly.  This move is perfect for those with low stamina, bad defense, or can't read attacks very well.

Ryu Sou Sen-Gerami:  If the user decides not to go with Ryu Sou Sen, instead of attacking 9 points of the body, the user instead attacks only one point of the body at very high speed.

Ryu Shou Sen:  A counterattack to any attacks from the above.  The user thrusts his blade upward, and when that blade clashes the descending blade at very high speed, the impact is sure to be a tremendous one.

*Battou-Jutsu:  Not only used by the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu, but is essential to the style nonetheless.  It's basically means "sword drawing technique,"  and doing it at god-like speed, adding more damage.  It leads with the right leg, so when you draw it, the sword won't slive your leg off.

Sou Ryu Sen:  A follow-up of a Battou-Jutsu if it fails.  Usually if a Battou-Jutsu misses, it'll leave the user vulnerable.  This move attacks with the sheathe if the Battou-Jutsu misses.  This move was made by Kenshin himself.

Ikazuchi:  Same as Sou Ryu Sen, except that the sheathe goes before the sword.  A very rarely used move.

Dou Ryu Sen:  The user slashes his sword on the ground, causing rocks to fly at the direction the sword is pointed.  Very useful, and used a lot in the series.  It either damages you or distracts you, and can be followed up by a Ryu Tsui Sen usually.

Kuzu Ryu Sen:  Very very impressive move.  It's basically the Ryu Sou Sen, but this time, the user attacks all the 9 points of the body simultaneously,(at the same time).  Hiko, in my opinion showed off this move the best.  This move can only be cancelled with another Kuzu Ryu Sen or the ultimate Ama Kakeru Ryu No Hirameki,(this move is used to test the Ama Kakeru Ryu No Hirameki).

Ama Kakeru Ryu No Hirameki:  The absolute ultimate attack of the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu.  It's a Battou-Jutsu but with many differences from a regular one.  It's so powerful the master is usually killed, but Hiko is an exception since Kenshin has a Sakaba.  Anyway, the attack leads with the LEFT leg instead of the right.  This adds more speed and power to the attack, however it endangers the user as well.  You also need to use god-like speed with it.  But it's really 50% physical and 50% mental.  You need a strong will to live, as it's dangerous to use, but you can't be hesitant, or you might loser your leg.  Also, there's a second part to the attack.  If the attack misses, the impact is great, and you'll be sucked in, and the user can attack a second time.
