Well after a long hiatus, I'm back to write more on the Guns of Trigun. First off I would like to give my condolences to all the victims and familes affected by Sept. 11 tragedy. It's a sad world we live in when people have to hurt and/ or kill one another to accomplis nothing. That aside, this time we are going to talk about Meryl's Strife's .22 cal. American Derringers. The first thing I have to point out Meryl's Derringers are that they are fact .22 calibur and not .38, .44, or .45 as some have speculated. The Derringer was originally conceived of and produced in 1866. the design is far different aesthetically from the old Derringers though it's mechanical design are almost the same. Meryl's Derringes are breech action, over-under (it's two barrels are one on top of the other), double action only (i.e. pull the trigger and it fires, ther is no visible hammer) guns. The ejector action on it is manually activated. In other words, you have to open the breech and pull the ejector lever up to remove the bullets. Now on a regular over-under Derringer, the firing pin automatically adjust to fire each shot respectively and individually, though it seems that Meryl uses only one shot for each gun and then drops them for Millie to collect afterwards. So far there is only one company that officially reproduces a replica of this gun in existence, and this company is Hudson. Only available in Japan, the gun replica is considered a toy but has all the fun little quirks about it that the real gun would except for the fact that it doesn't fire anything at all. Not even pop caps. The gun comes with two dummy bullets that you can load into the breech as well as having te ejector. It's made out of metal with a nice reflective plated finish and black ABS plastic grip covers on the sidse of the grips. This toy also comes with a free pin of Kuroneko-sama. Original price in Japan is 8000 yen. Another big GOOD LUCK to everyone in finding this fine piece of Trigun. Thank guys and gals. Take care. Next: Wolfwood's Punisher's (That's right! I said Punishers, plural. There are two.) |
