Well after an even longer hiatus, I'm back to write more on the Guns of Trigun.  It's been a rough time for the last couple of months, but I have been trying to keep ahead of the law.  I appreciate all the e-mail I've been getting from all you Trigunners, but I must emphasize that you PLEASE DO NOT mail me about where to get the kits.
Now onto the article.  Today's subject Dominique the Cyclops' Heat Wave187M.  OK... OK I could go on and on about the history about this gun, as I could with all the guns we've talked about, but I'll try to keep it brief.  To begin with, this gun was highly modeled after the German Luger P-08 firearm.  It was most commonly used in the World Wars I and II, but was created by George Luger around 1900.  THe most notable attraction to this gun is the unique slide mechanism, or toggle lock.  This toggle lock acts much like the human arm or knee.  When straight it can take a great deal of force, but when bent it moves pretty easily along rails on the frame of the gun.  Now looking specifically at Dominique's sidearm of choice when compared to the Luger P-08, it is safe that her version is based off the Pre- 1904 models being that it has no grip safety as the later models did.  Also another unique feature is that the Heat Wave 187M has an enlarged trigger guard made up of two 3/4 circle.  One for the actual trigger guard and a second for seemingly aesthetic purposes. Also from the look of the locking bolt it may even be closely related to the Luger made in 1900. Other notable differences are the elongated rear rear part of the frame where the end of the toggle lock hinges and no front sight.  The caliber of this gun is never really determined but could be anywhere from a 7.65 x 23 Parabellum cartridge to a 9mm Parabellum cartridge, or even a .45 caliber.  However given he fact that most everyone in Trigun uses a .45 caliber bullet, it may be safe to assume it is a .45 as well.

Once again, Dai Nippon Giken come through with another fabulous replica of a Trigun firearm.  Like the Grader Single Hand 2043, this is a solid cast, static kit.  Each piece is individually numberedand cast in black resin, as are all Dai Nippon Giken. (Accept no substitutes.)  Original cost 9800 yen or  $80 USD.  There are no companies or websites that sell recast of this kit.  Again I say good luck on your search and I bid you goodbye.

NEXT: Who knows... stay tuned...
