Plants: The How and What?! (Coming Soon)
Hello all, I'm back yet again with another article for all you Trigun lovers to read, ponder, or drool over.  However it goes.  This time we're dscusising Wolfwood's Cross Punishers.  Yes, you did hear me correctly. I said Punishers, plural.  Not obvious to many people but Wolfwood has two completely different Cross Punishers. The A type and the B type.
The A type Punisher as seem in the episode with the showdown between Vash and Wolfwood is nothing more than a housing cross for appoximately sixteen Grader Single Hand 2042 auto-pistols.  These pistols, located in the arms of the cross, swivel down upon release and opening of the arm for better access and easier removal as you could well see in the episode previously mentioned. Its design is a bit different as well from the Cross Punisher we're all use to seeing. First off, at its center, is an x type shape with four hole located top, bottom, left, and right.  These then lead into the smooth arms of the cross, butted with an end cap riveted around area. For a better look at Wolfwood's A type Cross Punisher, I suggest that you purchase Wolfwood's necklace made by Movic, which is based directly from that cross. As far as the locking/ opening mechanisim goes on this gun, your guess is as good as mine.
As for the B type Punisher, its a bit more interesting.  Unsure of the actual caliber of the rounds, it's safe to say that they should be about the size of thr round in a M60 machine gun, a military machine gun that fired 7.62mm rounds.  Some may even say that its rounds are closer to that of a M2 .50 caliber machine gun, another powerful machine gun that fired 12.74mm rounds.  Personally, I would go with the first choice seeing as that the M2's rounds are so powerfull that you usually find them either mounted on military vehicles like Humvee or mounted on a large tripod.  However, Wolfwood is a pretty strong guy.  The machine gun is of cours located in the longest part of the cross. Located at the top of the cross is a rocket launcher, nuff said, and in the arms of the cross is ammunition.  THe firing mechanism is located in the center of the cross.  An oddly shaped face much different than the skull seen in the manga, the trigger is located at the top of the face between the eyes but higher up. Now as far as the locking/ opening mechanism goes on this fine weapon, there are a few hypothesizes.  My opinion is that the panels are triggered by the horn like triggers located in the eyes of the face, not the one at the top.  I figure that depends on where the trigger is located, thus activates the panel by pulling back on the side triggers. This involves the turning of the face into certain positions to activate those panels.  When not in use the face remains upright as the cross is. However turning it upside down, to where the trigger is now located toward the machine, and pulling back on the side triggers slide open the machine panels for firing.  Now when it comes to the rocket launcher, the face must be turned sideways to line up wiht the arms of the cross.  Again pulling down on to open rocket launcer panels as well as the exhaust located at the bottom of the cross near the machine guns opening. Then it's nothing more than a squeeze of the button to fire, like a real military, shoulder mounted, rocket launcher.
Now for all you model replica buffs out there.  It's really sad but there are NO Cross Punisher replicas. However if you decided you just have to have one Dai Nippon Giken does have a good set of instructions that would allow you to build the Cross Punisher one 5mm layer at a time.  (the total thickness of the cross is 100mm.)  Interested?  Then go here ->
Dai Nippon Giken has taken down the blueprints...  New link soon to come ^_^ <-  Again I say to you, good luck on your search.  Take care
