| Passions of the Heart: Words to Express Your Love on Your Wedding Day and Every Day Thereafter... The following is a sample mini-ceremony from the book by Rev. Janine Vashio (c)1997, titled, The Flower Ceremony. Here is the unique celebration for your wedding ceremony which answers the question, "How can we include special friends and family in our ceremony?" This idea can be used in many different ways, so you have complete permission to be creative. The flower ceremony makes use of the meanings of various flowers to offer a blessing to the couple in their marriage. At the specified time in the ceremony, flowers are brought to the couple and placed into a vase which symbolizes their marriage. As each participant comes forward, either they, or the officiant, offer their special saying that includes the meaining of the flower. For instance: Officiant: "The Daisy, a symbolic meaning of romance and innocence, is offered by their friend, _________. May your life together be touched by innocence and forever romantic." Dad: "May this Zinnia, which represents friendship and affection, always help you to remain friends and confidants in your journey through life together." Officiant: "The Rose, a symbolic meaning of true love is offered by their friend, ___________. May your true love grow stronger as your years grow longer." Grandmother: These Lilies of the Valley symbolize the return of happiness. May happiness follow on the heels of any of life's challenges." You can choose the flowers and sayings, or you can let the participants choose and create their own. A "Flower Dictionary" will help you with the meanings associated with the flowers. Enjoy!!
