Papaw Victor was a good man.  I was also named after Victor.  Mom and Dad named me Victoria.

Papaw loved to fish and hunt. I remember spending many hours fishing with him on creek banks.  But when it came to hunting I decided that I didn't like it.  The first time I watched him shot at a deer I screamed and he miss. Thank goodness !

This is the time that I wanted to learn how to pin curl hair. I couldn't find anyone who would let me practice on them but Papaw. He was willing to let me try it on him. He didn't have a lot of hair left and probably a little less when I got done with him.

Papaw Vic died on March 11, 1971. He was 72 years old.  He is buried in Greeenlawn cemetery in Portsmouth , Ohio.

He carried a little letter in his wallet for many years with his burial wishes written on it.  Those wishes were carried out at his death.   His wish was to be cremated and his ashes buried at the feet of his father James Robert Lockhart.  That is where his remains rest today.
