More footplating shots.............

The Satavahana crew

A cab shot of the WAP4 along with the crew. On both my journeys the drivers had put in a round 25+ years of experience. The Light blue Shirt, Navy Blue trousers are now the regular duty attire for the drivers on IR. Previously it was the Grey safari which was removed after some protest from the unions.

Konark at a distance

Ah! yes, "Here i come", seems to say the approaching Konark Express, hauled by a KZJ WDM2B. This shot was taken with me popping my head out with the wind hitting me hard on my face, thrilling even to take a snap when u r footplating. Did you notice the 4 wire catenary above.

Konark whistles past me

A much closer look at her as she breezed past us. The loco change is effected at KZJ and not SC to avoid a unecessary light run and wastage of power at Sec'bad. The livery here is a typical WDM2C livery that KZJ uses. This WDM2B later allows the WAG5A that we saw previously to haul the train till Vishakapatnam where another WDM2 takes over till Buvaneshwar

MEMU passes us

This is a newcomer to this section. The MEMUs have been very recently started between SC and KZJ. The outcome is evident as the morning unreserved rush on trains towards SC have been drastically reduced. These are real quick machines eh! "Have i seen this nut with the camera somewhere before ?......" the driver of the MEMU seems to be thinking ;-)

Doouble headed WAG5-WAG7

This is one of the special photos i wanted to share. Note the double headed WAG5-WAG7 combi heading a KSN(Krishna) freight. These are not Mu-ed. Notice the driver of the WAG7 behind waving the green flag as though telling us that "Hey look we are two crews manning this freight train".

Triple headed WAG5-WDM2-WDM2

There was a talk about A/C-Deisel double heading on the IRFCA sometime back. Here is a perfect example. This is a triple headed freight train. All three locos were live when we actually passed it. The two deisels were MU-ed, but i did not notice a crew on the side visible to me. The WAG5 belonged to LGD and the deisel locos were from the KZJ shed. Note the two deisel locos coupled long hood facing.

twin WDM2c-WDM2a

Two light WDMs pass by, heading to their homes at Kazipet Deisel Loco Shed. The lead is a WDM2C and the trainling one is a WDM2A. Only the lead had a crew amnning it. The station on the backdrop is Wangapalli.
