Racing for Arrows

After sitting out most of season 1995 apart from the odd testing role, Jos was quickly hired by the British Arrows team partnering new Brazilian driver, Ricardo Rosset.

This car proved very fast but there was one major problem which was all-too-common for Arrows  - unreliability. The hard working team were overjoyed wih Jos's performance at Buenos Aires, Argentina, qualifying 7th, battling with the top teams, and finishing 6th. However, this was to be the teams only points-scoring finish of the season.

During the season, original Arrows team owner, Jackie Oliver sold his team to former Ligier team manager Tom Walkinshaw. Walkinshaw's new ownership can be attributed to the decline in performance of Arrows during 1996 as he focused on the next  season (1997) and saved money.

Lack of development caused a downward turn in performance. Although qualifying within the mid-field, Jos's care rarely lasted race-distance. Again, Jos usually out-performed his team-mate, bettering Rosett's results in qualifying and racing alike.

Championship points scored: 1 (6th position, Buenos Aires, Argentina).
Championship classification: 16th
