Victory Weyr
History
At the end of the 17th pass, all the Weyrs were overcrowded. Benden sent out a team of riders to locate and chart a new site for the next Weyr. After about a seven-day of searching, they found the ideal place for a new Weyr. It was in a large valley on the South Continent. There was an extensive cave system there that could hold approximately 500 riders and their dragons, along with all the personnel that would be needed to run the Weyr. At one end of the vale, there is a massive waterfall. At the other, there are paths that lead down into the basin. On either side, there are two major holds (Esker and Cirque) and several little cotholds that are tithed to the Weyr. The new Weyr was named Giant Falls Weyr.

Changing Names
Over the course of hundreds of turns, the Weyr changed its name from Giant Falls Weyr to Waterfall Valley Weyr. Then to White Falls Weyr. Now, at the end of the pass, people call this Weyr, Victory Weyr, after all it has endured.

Weyr Happenings
About 20 turns before the end of the pass, Weyrwoman Seria, rider of gold Seneth, stepped down as Weyrwoman, relinquishing her title to Shasa, rider of gold Fantath. About 4 turns into her leadership, her gold rose. To everyones suprise a gold egg was in this clutch. The first gold in 10 turns! There was a joyous celebration. Upon hatching the Gold Shayeth chose Marin as her rider. Three turns later Shayeth rose for the first time. No gold was in this clutch. Later that turn, Shasa was killed when her runner panicked. She was bucked off and broke her neck in the fall. Gold Fantath went Between. Marin became Weyrwoman. At the beginning of the next turn, Shayeth rose again. A month later, thankfully, there was another gold egg in this clutch. When the clutch hatched, to everyones suprise, Gold Xientath chose no one from the candidates on the sands. She chose Shalli, one of the Masterhealer's daughters, out of the stands. Marin was never to see the end of Fall. One turn before the Pern would be free of the enemy Thread Marin passed away in her sleep. Golden Shayeth joined her lifemate by going between. Shalli was left to carry on as Weyrwoman. Soon after Shalli became Weyrwoman, another goldrider transfered to the Weyr, and she became Weyrwoman 2nd.

Fall ended and all of Pern celebrated. The Weyrs were joyous and more then one rider drank a bit too heavily leaving the Holds to wonder at the wild partying Riders! Then came the realization among Holders that they no longer needed the DragonRiders of Pern to keep them safe. Within weeks Holders began to begrudge sending tithes to the Weyr. Shalli faced the anger of the Holds and the uncertainty of the Weyrs future.

On the fifth day in the ninth month of the first turn after Fall ended Xientath rose. K'ell's Mosath caught her and the first clutch of a new era was presented to Pern about a month later. New life!

As Shalli dealt with the rebelling Holders and their withholding or shortening of tithes to the Weyr, K'ell began to train his riders in ways to insure the Holds of the Dragon's usefulness and protect and rescue the peoples of Pern.

At Present...
It is now 3 turns after the 18th pass. The Weyr is still struggling to prove itself worthy to the Holds. Victory's Weyrwoman and Weyrleader keep exploring new ways to establish themselves as protectors and saviors to the people of Pern.
