  1. You may not use any of Anne’s character’s names.

  2. There is no religion on Pern, nor is there magic.

  4. Riders of Gold Dragons are heterosexual women and Riders of Bronze Dragons are heterosexual men. No exceptions.

2. Any trashing, insulting, bullying, or harming of another writer or one of their characters will not be tolerated. Should you be unable to solve conflicts with another writer off the group list then inform the BOD of the problem or contact me personally. DO NOT bring your personal conflicts to the group list postings.

3. You may not use, move or kill another writer’s character without the writer’s permission. (Such actions as reaching out and taking a character’s hand is not to be considered moving that character.)

  1. Present a persona and upon acceptance join the posting

  2. Ask for an extention

  3. Reapply to the Weyr

5. A LOA post is required should a writer have real life call them so that they are not able to post. If an Emergency calls you away before you can post a LOA then you must post an explaination upon your return. Any writer that does not post within a 6 week period will have their characters placed up for adoption. Should said writer return and give a sufficient explaination for the unexplained LOA the BOD will consider reinstating their charaters.

6. All OOC: post are to be kept to a minimum. Short OOC: post used to clarify or ask for clarification on a storyline are fine. Detailed planning of stories are to be done by private emails between the individuals. Have some pity on the readers and do not break up the flow of your story with OOC: post.

Rules of Writing

1. Anyone entering or starting a story must be prepared to post in that story on a regular bases until the story is completed. Posting at least once a week unless all writers in the story agree to other arrangements. Should a writer feel they are unable to work the story then they must extract their character from the storyline.

2. A story contains details. Details on the persons emotions, what the character thinks, what the character feels, and what the character sees. When you post to a story or start a story we, the readers, need to feel and see what your character sees and feels. A one liner is not a story! There must be a point to the story. So be prepared to get the reader from point A to point B.

3. Posts:

  1. The title of each post will contain the Pern date as in month, day and the year of our weyr since creation along with the title of the story and in parenthesis Atten: with the person or persons name or names whom you want to join in the story. (Example: 09.16.03 A Leap of Faith (Atten: Healers)

  2. The first post will contain a brief description of what the story will be about. (Example: In this story the rider of Victory begin training for a life without Thread.)

  3. And MUST have in any text some idenification of the person who is talking or taking part in the story. (Example: N'orm walked across the weyrbowls hot sands.) We need to know who is doing the walking.

  4. All post should be of at least five sentence long.

4. Any character that is called upon for assistance should respond as quickly as possible. if for some reason you do not wish to take part in the story where your character is called upon then make arrangements for it to be known your character is out of the weyr or area involved and can't respond.

5. All persons that own a character who is a main player in the Weyr or Holds, Weyrleaders, WeyrlingMasters, CandidateMaster, Holders and so on, must respond to a post in which that character is called upon. (For Example: A candidate appears before the Candidatemasters office door. The Candidatemaster must make a response of some sort.) You may post that your character is out of the Weyr or Hold but DO NOT leave a person waiting for a response.

6. Dragons are not people. They lives are simple compared to us humans. So do not write them as if they are humans. When they hatch they are not hatched with full knowledge of the world around them. Think of them as baby birds. They are always hungry, always itching from the rapid growth they are experiencing. So for baby dragons eating and being bathed and oil are foremost on their minds. They are emotionally vulnerable. Their world revolves around the Weyrling they are bonding with. It is not unusual for them to be possessive, or frightened when separated from the Weyrling. Their perception of the world is different from a humans. What you see is not nessasarily what they see.  Concepts are diferent for a dragon.  They will not make plans for the future as they live in the moment.  They will not take part in politics, because, for them the world consist of eating, bathing, fighting Thread, or whatever activity they are involved in, and, most importantly, their lifemates.

7. Here is a little guide to the different forms of speech used in posts:

  • " " Are used for normal human speech

  • >> << Are used for dragon speech, to one another or to their rider

  • )) (( Are used for when a rider mind talks to their dragon

  • ** ** Are used for when a firelizard is communicating by pictures or emotions
