Victory Weyr
Ethen
Persona Information
Name: Ethen
Age: 19
Sex/Preference: Male/Bisexual
Rank/Title/Position: Journeyman Harper
Main Location: Victory Weyr

Physical Description: Eyes ~ large and hazel, flecked green and brown, like his father's. He has uncommonly long eyelashes. Hair ~ Dark blackish-brown, though in the summer it tends to turn slightly red and even blonde in parts. Ethen wears his hair in a somewhat wild, spiky style, and he has perfected the "just got out of bed, but I still look good" look (basically, he just leaves his hair to do what it wants, keeping it at about 2 inches long all over). Height ~ 6'3" Weight ~ 170lbs Build ~ on the muscular side of athletic from riding runner beasts and swimming. Complexion ~ light olive skin that can go quite dark in the sun. Ethen has a handsome, interesting appearance, with a slightly hawk-like nose and angular features. He is ambidextrous from helping his mother with all sorts of chores at a young age, and often having to do more than one thing at once. He has a beautiful baritone voice when he sings, but he can easily reach notes in the higher and lower ranges, and when he sings in falsetto his voice is just as stunning. Ethen's voice is what first brought him to the attention of Harpers who insisted that his mother allow him become a Harper. When his voice is heard, it's not hard to see why. Ethen wears a plain silver ring and a silver dragon ring, as well as a long silver chain looped three times around his neck. Ethen usually wears draping clothes that catch slightly on his figure, accentuating and hinting at the muscular structure underneath. The ring is of a dragon, wings folded, resting its head on its tail that loops around his finger, and was left to Ethen by his F'san. He always wears the ring, as did his father. Also owns a beautifully carved wooden harp, given to him by his mother and brother when he walked the tables. The ring and harp are his two most cherished possessions as they have such great sentimental value.

Emotional Description: Ethen is charismatic and charming. He is lively and animated, often accompanying his words with energetic hand gestures. He makes a point to be kind, and he is good at bringing people out of their shell. He tends to bring out the best in others. Although he is generally confident and outgoing, Ethen finds it hard not to be shy with people he is attracted to. Ethen admires visual arts (painting, drawing, etc), but finds it frustrating that he lacks any ability in them at all, and is even quite bad at them. So, he satisfies himself by looking at the work of others, and admiring those who have the ability. Ethen gets on well with animals, dragons and flits especially. He is relaxed and easy-going and very slow to loose his temper. Some even think he doesn't even _have_ a temper! However, he does, and when Ethen is angry it's quick and sharp, then he is calm again.

Ethen is shrewd, and even a little suspicious sometimes, though he is quick to forgive, and keeps any unsubstantiated suspicions to himself. He enjoys walking and swimming, and finds that nature is a great inspiration to him in his music. He is often found laughing, smiling or grinning, and is generally considered a cheerful young man with a good sense of humour, which he usually is. Ethen likes to keep as many people happy as he can, so he finds it hard to deal with other's sadness, and his own. He will hide it if he is upset and is not very good at expressing negative emotions generally, though he can do this well through music and song. Ethen has only recently recovered from the loss of H'tan, his first love. Though at times, when he is ill, or otherwise stressed, and something strongly reminds Ethen of H'tan, he can still find himself a little choked.

Brief History: F'san and Beryl met a long time before Ethen was born, and were very close friends when F'san's bronze, Fenth, flew beryl's green, Erith. The friends decided to raise their child together when it was born. Unfortunately, a few months before Ethen was born, F'san died from a heart seizure. Fenth went _between_. Beryl was incredibly disappointed, and in a way, heartbroken; F'san was very dear to her, even if they weren't _in love_. Ethen was born at Southern Weyr 19 turns ago, by which time Beryl had recovered to a degree, but was still missing F'san. Beryl was at once happy and saddened that Ethen looked like his father. Happy that she would always be able to remember him, and saddened that she would be reminded of her lost friend. Eventually happiness won. Ethen was a lively child who had many friends, though he only ever had one or two close friends whom he trusted completely. When Ethen was almost 2 turns Erith rose again and Beryl became pregnant once more. 17 turns ago, Ethen's brother, Greethen was born. The two were raised together, and Greethen's father, blue rider, B'erd (Brenferd) kept in close contact with the family, helping to raise both Ethen and Greethen, though they were never really what you could call a family. Ethen has always been very good friends with his brother, and the two are a brilliant duo. When they were younger, they would often put on little shows for Beryl, with them dancing, singing and even acting, usually quite comically. When the two were together at Southern Weyr they often went out swimming or riding runners. Ethen is very proud of his bronze rider brother, and G'riff is proud of Ethen's Harper skills. Ethen became a Harper apprentice when he was 12, after a journeyman overheard him singing and, with Ethen, persuaded his mother to let him become a Harper. Beryl had hoped that he would be a rider when he was older, but she saw how much Ethen loved music and allowed it. Ethen lived up to the promise he showed at first and impressed all his teachers. However, a few were slightly bothered that his voice was still his strongest instrument, but most saw that this was just because he was exceptionally good at singing, rather than at all bad at other instruments. Ethen walked the tables and became a journeyman when he was 15. When he was 13, Ethen had to 'rescue' G'riff from jumping off one of the high Weyr buildings after they had got hold of some wine and G'riff believed he could fly. Ethen has always been able to consume large amounts of alcohol and feel little to no effects. It is a lucky trait that often comes in useful. On the other hand, it has been evident since that event that G'riff doesn't handle his drink so well, and thus avoids it. When Ethen was 15, he and G'riff were out riding new runners, when a falling tree startled Ethen's runner, who reared and bolted. Ethen is a good rider, but he had to fall from its back, or else he would have been dashed against the low branches. The spooked animal trampled Ethen as it fled, and G'riff had to run for help, not daring to move his brother in case his injuries were worsened. Luckily Ethen's wounds were not too serious, just a cracked rib and bruising, though everyone said he was lucky to be alive. The runner was found dead a few days later, having ran itself to exhaustion and tripped, breaking its neck. Ethen was saddened by the loss of the runner, and bore it no ill will after trampling him. His wounds healed quickly, though he was stopped from singing for a while until his rib healed completely. Fortunately, his gave him a chance to catch up with stringed instruments which previously he had not been as good at as singing. At the age of 15, Ethen met Heritan, (later H'tan), a candidate searched for the recent clutch at Southern. The two spent a lot of time together and fell in love, though they would not show it in public. Unfortunately, within a year of their meeting, H'tan and blue Berith were burned badly in an accident whilst practicing with some others. H'tan's wounds were so bad that he died within a few days and Berith followed. Ethen found it difficult to continue after the death of his love, especially as no one really knew about them, so he had to hide the degree of his grief. With much strength, and a lot of support from his brother (one of the few what knew) he managed, and now is able to think of him without the intense sadness he had at the time. However, this does interfere with his studies to become a master harper. Earlier this turn, as a surprise, Ethen is taken by his mother to a clutch of fire lizard eggs that are about to hatch. They hatch and Ethen impresses a little blue, Telan. Ethen transfers to Victory.

Abilities/Strengths/Weaknesses: Abilities ~ singing, playing pretty much any instrument you could place in front of him, has some acrobatic skill also, swimming, riding runners.
Strengths ~ physical strength, charismatic, dazzling smile, confidence, good leader.
Weaknesses ~ not very secure when dealing with negative emotions, especially his own; shyness around people he likes and is attracted to; painting/drawing; cooking.

Pets: Blue Flit ~ Telan ~ hatched at the beginning of this turn. Telan is _very_ mischievous, he _always_ seems to be getting into trouble. Loves to tease and generally annoy bronze dragons (especially Verith). Somehow manages to look utterly innocent when he wants to, however. Loves to do little tricks to amuse and entertain others. Is something of a showoff, and loves attention of any kind.

NPC's:
Father ~ F'san ~ Bronze dragonrider ~ died before Ethen's birth (would be 50 turns now) ~ was at Southern Weyr.
Mother ~ Beryl ~ Green dragonrider ~ 42 turns ~ currently at Southern, though may be transferring to Victory Weyr after her son.
'Uncle' B'erd ~ G'riff's father, helped raise Ethen too ~ brownrider ~ 45 turns ~ also at Southern.
Half brother ~ originally Greethen, now G'riff (since impressing) ~ 17 turns ~ rider of bronze Verith (Vey for short) ~ Victory Weyr.

Other: A few turns ago, Ethen was in love with a blue rider from Southern, H'tan, but he and blue Berith were killed in a terrible accident, when he was flamed in wing practice.
