Re: Case # 371901

Dear Mr. Sidran,

I am writing in support of Cheri Honkala, Director of the Kensignton
Welfare Rights Union and Spokesperson for the Poor People's Economic
Human Rights Campaign. Cheri was arrested on November 29, 1999 during
the Seattle/WTO protests. She was charged with obstruction for her
non-violent attempt to exercize her First Amendment Rights of Freedom of
Speech and Assembly.

Since that time, Cheri has been offered a plea bargain that includes 5
days in jail, a $1000 fine, and a two-year gag order prohibiting her
participation or involvement in demonstrations anywhere in the country.

I firmly believe that the arrest, the charge, and the plea bargain
pressed upon Cheri Honkala represent an aggregious violation of the
Rights that are guaranteed to all American citizens in the First
Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America.

In the spirit of American Freedom, I firmly believe that all charges
against Cheri Honkala must be dropped immediately.

Sincerely,
