The portraits Virginia creates are a collaboration between client and artist. Virginia will do her best to accommodate the clients vision with her own artistic eye and years of experience to create a portrait that will become a family heirloom that will be loved and enjoyed for many years.
When requesting a portrait, Virginia will need very clear, large, quality photos from which to work along with a description of your pets personality and favorite activities. We cannot over emphasize the need for large, clear photos, [see tips for photographing your pet(s)]. Photos should be at least 5 x 7, preferred 8 x 10. The artist requires several good quality photos which will be returned to the client upon completion of the portrait. If photos are copyrighted, she will need permission to use them. Virginia does accept photos of a favorite location to be used as background provided it will fit the composition of the portrait. Virginia will need to approve all photos before accepting a commission. A 12 x 16 oil portrait with 2 subjects and a detailed background would be $1250.) Artist will advise what sizes will accommodate more than one main subject. When requesting more then one main subject in a portrait, it is helpful to have at least a couple of good photos of the subjects together if possible for comparison of size to each other. Arrangements can be made for shipping outside the United States. Sizes for Pencil Portraits are approximations and can vary some according to the composition of the subject(s). Size for Oil Portraits is the size of the canvas. Other sizes are available for oils; please contact the artist for additional sizes and prices. Prices are subject to change without notice; however, once the artist accepts a commission, the price on that portrait is set and will not go up, unless the client wishes to make changes such as additional main characters or more detailed background. Time for completion of a portrait varies a great deal depending on medium, size, complexity of the portrait, drying time on oils and artists schedule. The artist will discuss the amount of time to be expected in completing your special portrait at the time you place your order. A 50% deposit is required at the time the request for a portrait is made; the balance is due prior to shipping the portrait. Client will be emailed a copy of the portrait for approval prior to shipping. If there are any minor changes needed, the artist will be happy to make them. GUARANTEED! Your complete satisfaction is a must. If, after receiving the portrait, you are not completely satisfied, a complete refund will be sent once the artist has received the portrait back. *No refund on shipping cost.* COPYRIGHT: The artist, Virginia Vaughn, retains full rights, including copyright and reproduction rights, to all her artwork, including commissioned pieces.
