    Hi Sue,

Well I've decided after much thought and deliberation to breed Camilla. I'll be off next week to go to the vet and have her hips x-rayed.

Is there anything else I should do at this stage?

    G.

Hi Gretel - ok, take a big breath my young friend, and welcome to the world of dog breeding! You know I will support your decision 100%. I should warn you though that the world of dog breeding is very harsh at times. Only last week, we lost two very promising looking puppies to fading puppy syndrome. It was just awful. Not only that, but Jeremy was hoping to get one of these pups to help the re-build of his lines. This was a breeding that we had been planning for three years. To make matters worse, that was also the last of that frozen semen, so we can't ever repeat the mating. It was very disappointing, and more than a couple of tears were shed.

In any case, make sure you have your entries in for the Rottie National. It's important that Cammy has the opportunity to strut her stuff. We will use that as a platform to help find a suitable stud dog. I have a couple of ideas, but I think it's always good to have a good look around.

    More later,

    S

Hi Sue. Well I've just come back from the vets, and had Cammy's hips x-rayed. The vet said that she thinks that the hips look "fabulous", but I'll just wait on confirmation on their rating before I get too excited. If nothing else, that's one more barrier passed.

One thing that has been worrying me is the selection of the stud dog. Are you choosing who that will be? I thought I might have a say in who it would be. Please let me know.

    Gretel

Gretel, sorry, I didn't mean to sound all presumptious. Certainly you can pick the stud dog for Camilla. Let me know if you need any help. I just thought you'd want to use my contacts and experience to help you find a suitable stud.

Frankly, I've got so much on my plate at the moment, that if you feel you can do this without my help, then that's great.

    best, Sue
