Hi Sue. I've got some ideas in mind, and I think I can do this. I hope that's ok with you. I'm just in the process of finding a few suitable dogs. There's even one been advertised in the local paper, and I'll give them a call.

Hello, I saw that you had advertised your stud dog in the "Great Looking Dogs" magazine. I have a rottie bitch, Camilla (Ozewok Desert Queen is her registered name), and I am interested in learning more about your stud dog, with the possibility of using him. Can you please let me know the health results of your dog, how much the stud is worth. Can you also let me have a copy of his pedigree. Please write back soon, as I want to be able to get this sorted as quickly as possible. With thanks, Gretel

Please send a full pedigree of your bitch, and a full health history. We will need this before we discuss anything further. Bartholomew Rottweilers, Dogs of Distinction.

Hello Gretel. Thank you for your email. We have a new boy here that you might be interested in. I've enclosed a photo. He's a very sweet boy. No, we don't show, but we know he is very nice. All our neigbours tell us that. He doesn't have any health problems, and although he only has one testicle, we know he can father puppies His stud fee is $300. kisses for all fur-babies, Brandy.

Susan! Help! Ok, I give in. I've emailed over 20 different people trying to hunt down stud dogs. I've got less than half that number as replies. It's just hopeless how in the world am I supposed to sort out who has the better dog to use! I'm so confused and unhappy that I'm in tears. One lady wrote to me telling me that her dog had a white stripe down its chest! and she didn't even realise what a large fault this was! another lady wrote to me with a dog that had an undescended testicle, and the people that have the better dogs either didn't write back, or won't let me use their dog. What the heck to I do? I feel like giving up already. Oh, I should have listened to you. This is way too hard to do by myself. I'm going to make far too many mistakes. Please be my mentor! Gretel

oh honey - I hate to say it, but I knew that would happen. However, I think it's important that you got to see what it really is like out there. Luckily you knew enough to know that you needed help. Mind you, I don't have all the answers. After all this time, I still go back to my mentors and ask them for help when I need it. Never think too highly of yourself that you can't ask for such. I had heard through several sources that you were out looking for a stud dog. Dog circles are small worlds! Nothing can go on long without others being told about it - and of course, the internet has made it a much smaller world. Let me know what you want to do. Sue

Hi G, thanks for letting the "prodigal daughter" return. I'm unsure where I want to go from here. sorry for being so indecisive. I'll let you know. I'm not sure whether I do want to breed or not. If I can't even work out this "easy" bit, how am I going to go when the harder decisions need to be made? Sue.

If you were Gretel what would you do? Would you choose to continue on the whole breeding venture, or would you think it's gotten hard way too quickly, and choose this time, as a great time to step aside before further resources are spent?
Click here to proceed. ie: yes, you will work with Susan as your mentor to breed Cammy
or,
Click here if you decide it's probably not a good idea at this stage to breed Cammy. ie: this is a not a good idea for either of you.
Neither decision is either right or wrong.
