In this section of the CARE program you will be studying about LIFE. Each letter in the word LIFE has a special meaning which can help you begin understanding and helping people in their daily interactions, and in solving personal problems.    L - Listening These help reduce tension levels in communications:  I - Identification    F - Fact Gathering These can be used more directly in problem solving  E - Empowering  Everyone enjoys giving good advice and how wonderful it is to be able to say the right thing at the right time. Proverbs 15: 23 (The Living Bible) People often experience personal difficulties. And at such times you may find yourself being drawn out to help those in need in some way. But, problems are not always easy to solve; and in spite of the best of efforts, you may find that what is offered in assistance may not fully meet the need. Sometimes folks go away wishing more could have been achieved. Is this a hopeless situation? No, there are ways to learn how to be more helpful.

Where is the best place to begin? Whenever you desire to help someone, it is always good to consider the importance of beginning with prayer. This is the "opening of the soul" and brings us into the presence of God, the greatest Counselor of all. Consider, and discuss with someone you know, the value of prayer in relation to problem solving.   Let us therefore approach the throne of grace with fullest confidence, that we may receive mercy for our failures and grace to help in the hour of need. (Hebrews 4: 16, Phillips) The process of helping people with personal problems is a delicate one, and not something to be entered into without careful consideration and understanding. The materials you have been studying up to this point can assist in getting the process started, but there is still more that needs to be implemented.
