This pic was taken during our XMAS 1977 trip to Barooga N.S.W .
What is so special about this picture ? Well , it is our own Hume highway in July 1942 . The GMC's are transporting U.S. servicemen , North from Melbourne , seen just before Pretty Sally hill . Note the U.S. army markings on the trucks and the moisture sealant  still visible on the windscreen and door surrounds , suggesting these vehicles have just arrived in Australia .The lead vehicle appears to be a
SWB CCKW - 352 .

1916 Albion . The Albion is a veteran of the 1985 ANZAC march in Melbourne . People watched in amazement as the old girl easily climbed the shrine steps .  It is pictured at a Bairnsdale airshow , back in the early 90's . Picture is courtesy of Jason Stagg
