I have had suggestions that I add a section where I show others how to write their own abuse poetry. First of all, I don't feel qualified to do that. I'm not a teacher. I do have on my official website a section where I discuss the technical aspects of writing different kinds of poems. This would help any who are interested in learning to write poetry. As for teaching someone to write specifcally about a subject such as abuse. I don't think that can be taught. It comes from emotions. The feelings of rage, frustration, despair and pain resulting from the abuse or rape. It also entails the emotions of joy, freedom, pride, release, and happiness at finally being free and finding yourself a survivor rather than a victim. My poetry comes from the heart and I write about many things not just abuse or rape. I am a rape/abuse survivor. But that's not who I am and is not what my life is based on. I have this site because I feel it's important for others to know that they are not alone and there is help, support, and understanding out there. That there are others who will not judge them. Also that poetry and other writing can be very healing. So if you want to try your hand at writing about your abuse in the form of poetry...my best advice is to study the techniques for writing, but don't get bogged down in it. Write from your heart. Let your emotions guide your pen. If poetry isn't for you...try writing your story in prose. It's a powerful tool in helping to heal the emotional wounds left by the abuse/rape. And remember you are not alone. Be safe...Elizabeth
