This is the way to tie a tasseled cord. The purpose of tying it is not to drop the Jitte.

�@Red tassels were for oridinary Doshin and Yoriki Police Forces.   Purple ones were awarded to those who earned recognition through thier outstanding services.   As was often the case, there was only one tassel attached to a jutte. �@
