Converting from generator to alternator
Here we have the conversion to the Delco 7127 alternator. The stock generator sources 19 amps (21 on a TR4), whereas this very common unit will source 42 amps. With appropriate attention to the wiring and fuse panel, such modern conveniences as an electric radiator fan, halogen headlights, a stereo, etc. can be operated.

I heard that this was a really easy conversion but I'm glad the engine was out of the car when I did this; there was a bit more to it than I first expected. It isn't difficult, just time consuming.  Hopefully with what I learned you can save having to go through the running around that I did.

Each part needs some attention: the adjusting bar, the pivot bolt, the bracket, the engine mounting plate, the pulley, the alternator itself - and you need a new belt.
