Glenn's Journal for 3-30-02 We got a late start while we continue to adjust to the time change. Today we were off to the Museo Na. della Scienza e della Tecnica "L. Da Vinci" (Leonardi Da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology). The museum provided an extensive look into many categories including Engines, Communications, and Transportation including Rail, Sea, Air, and Auto. For my friends at Honeywell, I did see a transmitter and receiver from the early 1900's. I am sure glad we were not making those. Of course some of the equipment looked similiar with the equipment we used on the military side. We easily spent a few hours there and could have stayed longer but wanted to see other things, plus we were getting hungry. We grabbed a quick bite at an Irish pub. We then took off to the Castelle Sforzesco. The castle is from the early Renaissance period with massive walls, moats, and drawbridges. It included ownership by the Sforza family, inherited from the Visconti family, and even served as a garrison and headquarters for Napoleon's troops. Tonight we decided to "do as the Italians do" and eat dinner around 9:00 p.m.. Well, I am not sure if it was Easter weekend or something else but we were one of only a few people eating out Saturday night. We had pizza and calzone and, finally, gelatto. We headed home around 11:00 p.m., stayed up for a while watching CNN and went to bed. Sunday started off just relaxing while I worked on the PC and Erin relaxed by reading. We went for a walk, enjoyed the sunshine and people at the park, had dinner, and went home to prepare for our travels to Venezia in the morning. |
