Here we are. We have just finished our 12th week, with only one week left, and where has all the time gone!!! We have truly enjoyed our trip and the new experiences we have had and shared, including all of the new friends we have made along the way. It's a little funny how, with only one week left, we are winding down this vacation and are content relaxing the rest of the vacation. We have seen plenty of museums, cathedrals, frescoes, and overall big cities so that now only small towns will do. San Sebastian is one of those small towns. It seems small in comparison to Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Rome, Florence, or Athens, especially today!! Today the town is having a "general strike" where everything (almost everything) is shut down in protest. We do not understand specifics about the protest but only the way it affects us in our own little world. To add to this the day is a gloomy, overcast day with a high chance of rain and the temperature in the low 60's. In Seattle this would be a perfect day to stay inside, enjoy the fireplace, and read a good book (except in Seattle this happens for most of the winter and you can't do this every day!!). We didn't have the fireplace but we could stay inside and read our books and work on journals. So we did!!!

We slept in as late as we wished, or could in my case (I still can't sleep more than 8 hours a night). Once we awoke we stayed in bed reading our books or, I, working on journals. We had bought groceries last night in anticipation of the strike so we even had breakfast in bed. We lounged around until 2:00 pm before venturing out into the drizzly wet day. We did manage to walk down to the beach, along the beach, and around the town for well over 3 hours. We sat admiring the beach and surrounding landscape as it looked back at us. Even at 60 degrees on a wet and dreary day there were people swimming and sunning themselves at the beach. To say the least we were wrapped up in our long sleeve shirts, fleece jackets, and long pants. We managed to stay damp during most of the walk until we found an open bar. We stopped and enjoyed some hot coffee while we warmed back up. On the way back to our room we found a bocadillo (sandwich) shop open so we stopped in for a half decent meal. Upon our return to our rooms we spent the remainder of the day back in bed, keeping warm, reading our books, and writing journals. We had eaten lunch so late that we didn't even go out for dinner. We were that lazy!!! Why not? We are on vacation by the way!!!
