Chuck Martin
Head Coach
Chuck Martin enters his fourth season at the head of the Warrior program
this year, as he enters his 15th season of coaching basketball. Prior
to earning his Bachelor's degree at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon,
Coach was an All-State point guard, All-League shortstop, and quarterback
at Elmira High School in Oregon. He went on to play four years
of Varsity Baseball in college and spent two summers playing semipro baseball,
as well. In his first season at Wasilla he led the team to a second
place finish at the Region Tournament and the school's first state tournament
appearance since 1992. The next season Coach guided the Warriors to the
school's first Region Basketball Championship since 1990. Prior to
the move to Wasilla, Coach spent a season coaching at Liberty University
in Lynchburg, Virginia. Before that he spent 10 seasons coaching
here in the Valley, first at Houston Jr./Sr. High where he led the Hawks
to Back-to-Back State Championships and then at Colony High where he started
the school's program. Each of those Varsity seasons culminated in
a State Tournament appearance. Coach Martin's career high school
varsity record is 261-82. In his six years at Colony, he led the
Knights to an overall record of 129-31 including four seasons with an impressive
60-0 Region record, including four Region Championships. In his tenth season
Coach Martin joined the short list of Alaska Basketball Coaches with 200
wins. He and his wife Rebecca, have two children, Kaylynn and Payton.

Steve Andresen
Assistant Coach
Coach Steve Andresen returns for his fourth season as an Assistant
Coach. Coach continues to assist the Varsity and lead the JV squad.
He earned both his undergraduate and Masters degrees from Brigham Young
University majoring in PE and Exercise Physiology. He was a varsity
letter winner in football, basketball and track in high school as well
as playing American Legion baseball. One of the key contributions
Coach Andresen brings to the Warrior program is coaching experience.
He started coaching in 1974 at Buena Vista High in Colorado. From
there he took the Head Track and Cross Country position at Dakota Wesleyan
University. Upon moving to Alaska in 1982, Coach was the Head Girls
Basketball Coach at Port Lions and later, where Region III fans may remember
him, Head Boys Basketball Coach at Kodiak High. In 1993 Coach Andresen
came to the Valley and coached Track at Colony High. A retired teacher,
Coach now operates his business, Port Lions Lodge and is a hunting and
fishing guide. He and his wife Peggy have five children, Micah, Kelsey,
Missy, Lara, and Rachel.

Dr. Dan Larson
Assistant Coach/Trainer
Dr. Dan Larson returns for his fourth season on the Warrior Staff as
an Assistant Coach and on-staff Trainer. After playing three years
of varsity basketball in high school, Dr. Larson did his undergraduate
work at the University of Idaho and went on to Western States Chiropractic
College. He is a Doctor of Chiropractic with a specialty in Physical
Rehabilitation. Dr. Larson not only coaches during the season, but
also travels with Coach Martin and the team during camp and summer tour
sessions. In addition to his coaching duties, he is responsible for
first response care for player injury both at practice and at games, as
well as supervising injury rehab. Dr. Larson has been active in community
and church basketball, volleyball, and softball since 1978. In addition
to his work with the basketball program, you can find him volunteering
his time helping out many Warrior teams. Dr. Larson owns and operates
Larson Chiropractic and Back in Action. He and his wife Sue, have
nine children, Kirsten, Michelle, Kris, Matt, Jesse, Erik, Cole, Erika,
and Jenna.

Matt Peterson
Assistant Coach
Matt Peterson returns for his second year with the Warrior staff this
season as an Assistant. He will be assisting Coach Martin with the
Varsity Team. Coach was a four-sport athlete in high school.
He attended Wasilla and Colony High schools and participated in basketball,
baseball, football, and track. Coach Peterson played football
at Valley City State University in North Dakota. He transferred to
the University of Alaska, Anchorage where he is currently finishing his
degree and teaching certification in Health and Outdoor Physical Education.
In January he will finish up his student teaching here in the Valley. Coach
has coached at several schools before joining the Warrior staff.
He was an assistant basketball coach at East Anchorage and is an assistant
in the Colony football program. Coach Peterson is the owner/operator
and guide of his own charter fishing business, Valley River Charters.

Jason Marvel
Coach Jason Marvel joins the Warrior staff this season as an Assistant.
He will be responsible for C-Team coaching duties and assist in the program.
Coach is a graduate of the University of Wyoming with a BA in English.
Prior to transferring to the University, he played basketball at Chadron
State College. Coach Marvel brings to Wasilla his Wyoming coaching experience.
He coached basketball and soccer at Rock Spring Hills High and spent a
year as the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Western Wyoming Community
College. The Warrior staff welcomes Coach Marvel to the program.
Coach also joined the Wasilla High teaching staff this year as an English
teacher.

Dr. Duane Odland
Team Physician
Dr. Duane Odland has been an avid supporter of youth sports in the
Valley since the mid-'80's. A basketball player in high school and
a graduate of Buena Vista College in Iowa, Dr. Odland received his medical
degree from College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery and his Physical
Therapy certification from the Mayo Clinic. After serving in the
military in Alaska as a physician and working in a family practice in Iowa,
Dr. Odland moved his family back to Alaska and opened a practice in Wasilla.
Dr. Odland has volunteered countless hours helping athletes in all sports
in Valley schools. He has been a long time supporter of Coach Martin's
teams providing preventative and follow-up care to athletes. Dr. Odland
and his wife Donita, also a long time supporter of valley sports and Coach
Martin's programs, have two children, Brant and Megan.
