Click here for full bracketRegion III includes the 4-A schools from the Mat-Su Valley, the Kenai Peninsula, and Kodiak Island. In the 1995-96 season the region divided it's eight schools into two divisions. Teams play home and away with each team in their division each season for a total of six games. Teams play home then away alternating years with members of the opposite division for a total of four games per year. Teams in each division play a league regular season of ten games prior to the Region Tournament.
Region Tournament bracketing is seeded according to the following criteria in this priority order:
1. Total Regional Record
2. Head to head competition
3. Record with teams within the division
4. Common 4A opponent outside the District
5. Toss of coin
In the case of a three or four way tie, only the head to head records between the teams that are tied will be considered. Once the original tie is broken, head to head competition must be considered first between the remaining teams before using steps three, four, or five.Bracketing will be split into two levels as follows:
#1 North plays #4 South and #3 North plays #2 South in the top bracket.
#2 North plays #3 South and #4 North plays #1 South in the bottom bracket.
The championship bracket is single elimination with a consolation bracket that allow for the third place state berth and award.
The top three finishers qualify for the State 4A Tournament currently held at the Sullivan Arena in Anchorage.
