I went into the house and threw my bag in my bedroom. I started to go looking for my mother, but she found me instead. "Taylor, honey.." she said and hugged me. "Hi, Mom." I hugged her back. "Congratulations baby. I can't beleive I am gonna be the mother of two married men.." she smiled and took my hand. "I must admit, though, I am not surprised that you asked her to marry you already. I AM surprised that she said yes so soon..with her family situation and all..she tries to put a good face on, but it tears her up so she pushes it back and out of her head... I could tell when I asked her about her Grandmother, Tay." She patted my hand again. "That might be a rough road, are you ready to handle that?" she asked. "Mom. I know. I thought the same thing, but I can't imagine not having her with me. I LOVE her, Mom. If her parents were still alive I'd wring their necks for her.." I continued, angrily. "But she's everything, mom. She's just herself, no matter what. I am not a status symbol for her, like I have been with other girls I've dated. She's so brave too..." I couldn't finish because my mother was smiling at me patiently, waiting for me to finish. I grinned. "I love her, Mom. More than even she could imagine." "I know son. I am happy for you then." she hugged me again. "I love her because you do, but I really LIKE her as a person. Dinner will be ready soon, honey, I better go finish up before I burn it." she said and left the room. I sat heavily on the bed and sighed. I flopped onto my back and laced my fingers together resting my head on my hands. I was thinking about Jessie when the door burst open. I raised my head a little to see the intruder but I already knew it was Zac. "DUUUUDE! You asked her..I can't believe it! You should have though, you're dumb if you let her get away..." he babbled and flung himself on the bed next to me. "Sure, Zac. Come in..good to see you too." I said sarcastically. "Hey don't bite my head off 'cause you two didn't sleep all weekend.." he grinned. I groaned. "I swear I'm gonna let her beat the shit outta you next time you mess with her.." I said and then had to grin. "That's better." he said "She is so perfect for you, man. She doesn't give or take any bullshit man. Won't have to worry about what she's thinkin'. She'll fucking let you know." he laughed and so did I. Suddenly he yanked up my shirt, staring at the belly ring I had gotten and forgot about until now. "HOLY SHIT!" he exclaimed with a big dumbass smile on his face. "Did SHE do it for you?" he asked. "Naw, she just took me to the place she got hers done.." I answered and laid my head back on my hands. |
"That's too cool.." "Dude she said that you can't call me a wus anymore..." I grinned, remebering the rest of that conversation and the events that followed, "I barely flinched." "Aww...she prolly held your hand you weenie.." he joked. "She did.." I grinned sheepishly. "You are a lucky man, Tay. Damn! Did ya find out if she had a long lost sister?" Zac joked again. "None that I know of..and you're right. I am lucky." I said, "Now get the hell outta my room so I can sleep" I threw a pillow at him but he ducked it. "You're still a wus.." he laughed and shut the door. I turned on my side and went to sleep, thinking about Jess. |
ZAC: Holy shit! He really asked her, and she said yes. I knew they'd wind up together. I wished I could find a sweet no-bullshit kind of girl, that looked that fucking hot. Damn! Tay better watch it though. I'd feel really bad for him if he could ever manage to really piss Jessie off. I laughed to myself, shyeah, right. As far as she was concerned my brother could do no wrong. I shook my head. And he actually went ahead and got his NAVEL pierced, he'd been yakking about having that done for at least 6 months. What a wus! He wouldn't have thought of going on his own to do it, but Jessie being there...I guess that's what they mean when they say your `better half'. Great. Two wedding receptions to attend and no date, certainly not that whiny friend of Lacey's they had me standing with. What a sissy! I knew she had other ideas though, and I cringed every time I thoughy about having to be nice about letting her down. I was sure glad Lacey and Jessie were getting so close, Lacey was starting to come out of her shell and be a little braver, too. Maybe she would ditch some of her whiny, prissy friends she was always trying to set me up with. Ugh! Jess on the other hand was way too cool, aside from being a little messed up by her family situation. If my brother wasn't so head over heels, I might have went for her, but having her for a sister in law would be fun. Lucky Tay. I figured I'd better get my ass in the kitchen and help my mother, and try to find a nice way to tell her that Tay would probably be useless until tomorrow. |
JESSIE: Jake and I finally got my monstrosity of an apartment packed except for the few things I packed for this weekend and the luggage I packed for when we flew to Tulsa. I was glad that Jake was there to keep me company, I would have driven myself insane trying to sleep and waiting for Tay to call and let me know he was home okay. I sighed. "Hey you. Why the big sigh?" Jake asked. "Oh, I don't know Jake. I guess I'm tired, this was a big job..." I told him. He laughed. "Yeah, especailly after staying awake for almost two whole days..." "JAKE!" I smacked him on the shoulder. "Don't get all huffy with me girlie.." he teased. "You know it's true. Damn, Jess. I don't blame you, either one of you. He's not here that much, more than he should be probably. I can see how you two look at each other. I'm not a totally insensitve...what's your favorite word? Oh yeah..I'm not a totally insensitive musclehead." He grinned at me and ruffled my hair. "Dammit, Jake..if you don't quit that I'm gonna have to kick your ass.." I said, giggling and smoothing down my hair. "Those threats may work on Zac Hanson, miss but not with me. Besides if you kill your trainer, your screwed." he teased and ruffled my hair again. "Shit! Jake.." I began through gritted teeth. "That's it...bring it on.." I tackled him and put my knee in his back. "What was that about a dead trainer?" I giggled. He flipped me no problem and pinned my arms down. I tried squirming out of his grip but he was too strong. I was also laughing too hard. "OK Jake..you win. I'm too tired to wrestle anyway." I said trying to catch my breath. "Sure you are, 'less it's Tay who wants to do the wrestling.." he joked. "Oh shut up you annoying brother you.." I retorted as the phone began to ring. Jake raced me for it and won. "Hello?" Jake said into the phone. "Hey man! How's it going?" he continued. "Cool. Yeah she's right here...hang on." Jake grinned and held the phone just out of my reach. "What are you gonna give me to let you have this?" he tormented. "Jake! I will spare you the ass kicking you deserve.." I giggled. "It's LONG distance you dork! Gimme the fucking phone.." I demanded as he continued to hold the phone just out of my reach. "Dammit, Jake!" I jumped and snatched the phone from him. I looked triumphantly at him as I put the phone to my ear. |
