Jaime quickly dressed, brushed out her hair and pulled on her boots. She looked at the clock, decided to put on a light dusting of eyeshadow, liner, mascara and lip gloss, then went into the house in search of her father. She gently pushed the door open and stepped inside. "Dad?" she called out with no answer. "Daddy? Are you home?" she called out again and heard a loud groan. She moved quuckly in that direction, to find her father back in his chair. "Hey Daddy...you hungry, now?" she asked gently. "Hey, Jamie girl....how're you doing pumpkin?" he smiled brightly at his daughter, but couldn't supress his slight wince of pain.
"I'm just fine, Daddy. But it looks to me like you're sportin' a whopper of a hangover. Make sure you thank uncle Mongo.." Jamie said sarcastically. "Now Jamie. Uncle Mongo still has a rough time too... " he admonished and stopped. "So do I. No excuse. Come on, I'll fix you something to soak up the excess Pappy." She reached out and hoisted her dad out of the chair, giggling when he wobbled a bit. "Don't laugh at your old man, girlie." he chuckled and followed her into the kitchen. He sat at the table and watched her work, thanking her for the coffee she poured him and making sure to make a big deal of the smell of the waffles she was making. Jamie blushed slightly and chuckled. "Daddy, you're gonna give me a complex. Sheesh. They're just waffles." She set the plate in front of him, handed him the bottle of syrup and some silverware, filled her own plate and sat down across from him. "Jamie-girl. Where in the heck are you gonna put that enormous stack
of waffles baby? They'll go straight to your ass and then we'll see if that blonde boy comes around again." her father teased. Jamie held her fork mid-air and stared at her father. "You might be my father," she finally answered with a grin, "but you keep talkin' like that and see if YOU ever eat another stack of waffles mister." "You wouldn't desert your old man and you know it missy. Now spill it. What's the boy's name again? Must be serious if you let him in the house." her dad demanded, smiling. "Sorry he had to see me in that state baby. Is he ever coming back or did I scare him off?" he asked, into Jamie's stunned silence. "JAMESON. Answer me miss." he teased again. Jamie let out a huge sigh and thought twice about making a reference to her brother. "Sorry Daddy. I didn't think you'd remember him. And he's coming by tonight. His name is Taylor Hanson. I met him last weekend when the girls and I were playing. Jadeleigh's dating his cousin, Josh."
she looked intently at her father. "OKAY?" she asked. "Taylor Hanson." her father seemed lost in thought for a moment. "THAT tall blonde boy is that skinny kid...with the little brother that can't even see over the drumkit?" he asked incredulously, making Jaime laugh out loud. "Yeah, Dad. But if you think Tay's gotten tall...wait 'till you get a load of Zac." Jamie took a big bite of her waffles and waited for her dad's response.
"Zac?" he waited for Jamie to answer him. "The kid that can't see over the drumkit." she said. "They made a big deal about letting us know they were coming to listen to us play again this weekend, Daddy. If you and Uncle Mongo need something to do come out and listen. Angel's too sick to sing anyhow." she told him. "If that brat ain't singin' then I'm there sweetie. You're too nice to her and Jade is too. I don't care if she IS Jadey-girl's family. She's still a brat. You should boot her, she can't sing like my Jamie anyway." her father stood and ruffled her hair, the picked up his plate and set it in the sink. He turned and squeezed Jamie's shoulders and kissed her cheek. "Thank you for breakfast pumpkin." he told her, rubbing his belly.
"Welcome Daddy." Jaime managed, after swallowing her last bite. She stood up and took her own plate to the sink. She rinsed her plate and filled up the sink to wash the dishes. "Don't worry 'bout the dishes Jameson. Uncle Mongo's coming over in a bit. He can do 'em." he father winked at her. "That's okay, Dad. I got 'em. Uncle Mongo sucks as a dishwasher, Mama said his one and only restaurant job lasted all  of two weeks. I like our dishes in one piece, thank you. You're gonna miss your shows. GO." she grinned as she worked on cleaning up the kitchen. She finally put everything away, dried her hands and went into the next room, where her father was watching T.V.
"Hey, Dad?" she called out.
"Hmm?" he answered, without looking up.
"I'm going back to my place. Will the drums bother you tonight?" she asked, thinking of his headache.
"Nope. Waffles did the trick. Knock yourself out, girlie." he grinned up at her as she stood next to his chair.
"Kay. I probably won't play long, though. Tay will be here soon and then I have to go to work." she said.
"Tay?" he grinned. "Oh. Oh yeah. Okay baby girl. Bring him in. I wanna meet him." he said.
"Tonight? With Uncle Mongo too? No way, Pappy. I'll have him come for dinner here another night. I'll even cook, but I think BOTH you AND Uncle Mongo would really scare him off." she chuckled. "Besides. It's not as serious as you think. See you tomorrow." she leaned down and kissed the top of his head.
"It is too, Jameson. Or you wouldn't offer to cook. See you tomorrow pumpkin." he grinned up at her again.
"Night Daddy. You and Uncle Mongo behave yourselves, please?" she asked. "Don't burn the house down." she half-joked.
"Night smart ass. I want to meet the boy." he gave her an admonitory stare.
"OKAY. Jeez, Daddy . I'll ask him when he can make it for dinner tonight, you nag." she giggled.
"Hmpf. Okay." he said looking into his daughter's eyes, smiling when he realized she was in love with this Hanson kid. He decided he definately wanted to meet the man who could grab his baby girl's heart, even after the lengths he knew her brother went to, to prevent ANY man from getting close to his baby sister.
"Night Daddy." Jamie purred and kissed her father on the cheek.
"Nite kiddo." he said back and gave her a swat on the backside as she walked away, making her squeal.
Taylor jumped into his car, after setting the bag of containers his mother gave him on the seat, and pulled out of the driveway, grumbling to himself. "I dunno why she thinks he has to eat enough for three people, he sick...and like I want whatever he's got.." he thought. He made the resolve that he would only stay long enough to hand him the bag and then he was out of there.
He knocked loudly on the door, and thought he heard Josh yell for him to come in. Taylor rolled his eyes, let out an exasperated sigh and turned the knob. He stuck his head inside and started to yell, to announce his prescence, but closed his mouth quickly when Josh came around the corner, his face covered with a hand towel.
"Hey, Ike. Man I bet that evil bitch is pestering Jade not to get in touch with me.." Josh stopped dead in his tracks as he looked up and realized who was really standing there. Taylor gave him a disgusted stare, knowing exactly who he was talking about. "What evil bitch, Josh?" Taylor demanded. "Come on, Tay. You know she hates me. She does stuff just to.." Taylor cut him off. "I know EXACTLY why she doesn't care for your presence." he said and dropped the bag on the countertop. "These are from mom. Another comment like that from you about Jamie, and I will smear your ass all over that parking lot, sick or not. And don't forget to tell Angel I said hi, asshole." he said as his body began to shake with the effort to control the urge to punch Josh right then. he gave Josh another disgusted stare and slammed out the door, leaving Josh standing in a shocked daze.
