Taylor watched, shocked, but trying to pretend he had no idea what was going on, as Calley shoved her chair out forcefully. He wondered how many drinks she'd had when he saw her stumble slightly, as she threw her sweater over her arm. He looked quickly back at his plate, after he saw her jut out her chin defiantly and stand straighter. Adam's whole body tensed with the effort not to grab her by the arm and shove her back in the chair. 'How dare she pull this kind of stunt IN PUBLIC?' he fumed as he watched her stand up straight and stick out her chin. Calley felt a sudden rush of power surge through her, and she knew Adam was steaming mad, but with all the vodka pulsing through her veins, she didn't rightly care at the moment. All she knew was that she was RIGHT, and she could feel three sets of eyes on her back waiting to see what her next move would be. "I DO NOT want to see you or talk to you, until you can treat me with the dignity and respect I deserve, ADAM," she spat his name, cursing silently when she slurred it a bit. "I MIGHT be home in a couple of days, unless you can be as supportive and back me up, the same as I have for you all this time." She turned on her hell, swearing to herself again when she wobbled, and strode for the door. She caught sight of Taylor, and his brothers, watching her as she strode toward the door. "Screw you, too, Hanson.." she thought to herself and she shoved the door open and was literally slapped in the face with a cold blast of air. She sucked in her breath and kept walking, but didn't make it much more than a couple of steps before a large pair of strong hands grabbed her roughly by the arm and yanked her around. Taylor's eyes widened in disbelief, as did Zac's, as Adam seemed to turn a frightening shade of red. Adam therw a large bill down on his table and shoved his chair back roughly, while Tay, Zac, and Ike excahnged shocked glances. Before he knew it, Taylor was tossing his own money on the table and getting ready to follow. "Tay, don't..." Zac grabbed his arm and kept him in his chair. "just wait a minute, okay?" he said, pinning Taylor to his chair with his expression. "Ike?" Courtney whispered, "Isn't that?..." she trailed off when Ike nodded, still watching Taylor. "Okay now.." Zac told Tay, and both sprang from their chairs. "Sorry Court...you guys have fun without us.." Zac said, trying to keep and arm on Taylor to slow him down. "Go..." Ike and Courtney said at the same moment, then Zac was gone, close on Taylor's heels. Calley's head swam as she felt her body being whriled roughly and she swore out loud, then tried to struggle out of the strong grip. "Nice talk for a LADY in your position.." Adam grumbled and grabbed her shoulders, to force her to look at him. "Let go of me.." Calley said harshly, through gritted teeth, still struggling against Adam's strong grip. "No. YOU listen to me. You WILL NOT embarrass me in a public place again, do you understand me? And as for a JOB..completely out fo the question. WE have a certain image to maintain and you are behaving like a two-year old." "Big damn deal. A fucking JOB, something to DO that doesn't make me feel like the girl in the plastic bubble. Leave me alone Adam. I just want to be alone for a while.." she stumbled backward, and hit her head on the brick wall of the restaurant. Adam was two inches from her face and glaring angrily. "I SAID NO." he growled, "Now stop this nonsense and come inside. You're drunk." "And I SAID, NO." she shot back defiantly. "You're not my mother and you ARE HURTING me.." she tried to wriggle out of his vice-like grip, but couldn't. "This is NOTHING." Adam growled again and shoved her against the wall. "Don't cross me Calley. I am SERIOUS. You will behave as the wife of the most influential, and filthy rich, businessmen in this entire region, or you will find yourself living in a cardboard box. GOT IT?" he snarled. "Let go. I am going to stay in a hotel tonight. There is NO WAY in HELL I am going home with you when you are like this...OWWW dammit.." Calley winced in pain as he tightened his grip on her upper arms so hard he was pinching her skin and cutting off circulation. She'd have some lovely purple bruises in the morning she thought. "You WILL do exactly as I tell you.." he ordered through gritted teeth. "What are you gonna do? Hit me?" she retorted. "Have fun explaining THAT court case to the press.." she laughed sarcastically. Adam's face turned a bright shade of red as he shoved her forcefully against the wall again. "Don't play with fire, Cal. You'll be the one to get burned.." he said, sneering smugly. |
Zac had to yank Taylor back roughly to keep him from lunging at Adam right away. Granted, as much as he disliked Calley, no man had a right to handle a woman in that manner and it pissed him off, too. But they had to be careful when they DID step in, or who knew what would happen when he and Taylor were no longer around. "Dammit, Tay. Do you WANT him to KNOW? Do you WANT him to do worse? Just slow down, he hasn't actually raised a hand to her.." Zac said, watching the scene closely. "Do you WANT him to give her a black eye? Or break her damn neck?" Taylor shot back. "Just come on, and let ME talk.." Zac said. "If it comes down to it, I'll step aside and you can pound the shit out of him, okay?" he rolled his eyes and dragged his brother by the arm. "Fine.."Taylor muttered, allowing his brother to tug him along. |
