In our little city here where all the hubbub was once lively and in full swing, it was quite a busy town of approximately 48,000 and everything was centered on our Main Street. All the good stores, movie house and such were all up and down this street and during the holidays.. it was decorated so beautifully.

But over the years, the city sorta moved outward, as most cities do, which left behind our lovely main street. The merchants even planted a few trees to try and keep the business from moving west, but to no avail. Our city was growing and businesses needed to move to have bigger and better opportunities.

When this happened, the downtown area as we knew it, was becoming a 'ghost' town sorta. But in time, the owners of said properties closed all the innards of their stores and refurbished the outside - which made it resemble like it was many years ago. Now, anyone driving through would think that was a bunch of lively businesses, minus the cars, of course. They were just trying to keep the memory alive.

But all the store fronts are fakes. Even the movie theater, anyone would think it was in action too, but nothing is behind those beautiful doors.

They also have an area as a remembrance of the disaster which took place in 1947 or 46... I believe. They have a big anchor there as you enter the city, since it was a ship that blew up and killed mountains of people here. We also have a memorial site where all the unknowns were buried from this disaster too.. It's on the Loop road. So the only time now this street is being used, is when someone is going to work, or driving to the next city. Nothing left down there at all now.

These remembrances remind us all of when something deteriorates over time, it has served its usefulness which makes one move on - soon to be forgotten.... Only memories remain of past events ... sorta like our own lives, when we become old and dilapidated, those behind us will move on but hopefully, they won't forget us, but have many fond memories of what used to be.
