High school, and Social interaction.

So many things are fucked up about high school. It's tough to begin with any one thing, but I"m going to have to start with the way people act. Why, and where is it decided, that every person fits into a "group". Whether it be hicks, jocks, preps, punks, whatever. Everyone get's fitted into these convenient little groups, because of who they hang out with, how they act, and what they do. The whole idea of these groups pisses me off. Mostly because as soon as the groups are established, there becomes a hierarchy. With groups at the top, and bottom of the spectrum. Someone who get's pegged in a lower group, because of who they hang out with, or how they dress, is almost always, not looked down on, but more like passively ignored by anyone in a higher level "group" This pisses me off. People will dismiss someone as a person, without even knowing who the fuck they are. Just by the people they hang out with, not by their thoughts, feelings, emotions, or personality. But because they've been fitted into a group. And maybe the saddest thing is, it tend to be the dumbest people (generalization, not always true) who are in the top echelon of the social ladder. The dumb football jock, or the dumbass ditzy blondes. Perhaps these "groups" help these people differentiate between "cool" and "loser". These people often need groupings to determine "food" from "rat poison" but again, that's a generalization. Actually this whole thing is. There's a lot of people who WILL respect you for the person you are, and who DON'T ignore you like a piece of crap. But it's the couple assholes who do act that way that give their whole "group" a bad name. Grouping's similar to religion (look for one about that soon.) People are grouped by different credentials, dictated their behavior by those who see them as they are. Eventually, animosity grows between groups and the social net becomes oh so complicated, ex. because the hicks hate the punks, but some hick are stoners, as are some punks, and they both hate the preps, and the preps hate everyone who's not wearing the latest shirt from whatever store's fashionable this month. Fuck that. So the next time you're ignoring someone in the halls, think about why you're doing it. Is it because you don't like this person? or is it because you know your friends will think less of you unless you do. That's why kids go on school shootings. Because they get to a point where they hate everyone, from every social group, and have no way of dealing with that hatred. And the ignorance by anyone eventually drives them to a point of murderous anger. So beware who you ignore. You never know who's feeling what.
