May 15 Our first day! Crew call was at 8am and actors at 8:30. Everyone came in early. We had 3 different locations to shoot today. The first shot was the family scenes. We wrapped that at about 1 and ran to the next location where the family would be killed. We had an f/x guy who met us there just in time. The killings ran until about 8pm, but it took us a long while to clean off all the fake blood from the house. We then headed back to the first location to film the sister's death scene in the shower. We got hit by a bad storm on the way back to the location and we had to run out in the rain to save the equipment. The 3 crew members (Charity, Ben, and Jimmy-director) that ran out got soaking wet. It was crazy but fun. Besides the rain, the only other things that went wrong were 1. when 1 of the bulbs blew, 2. a diffuser got burnt, 3. we forgot grandpa's cane, and 4. the blood in the chest wouldn't come out. Besides that, we had a great 1st day. All our actors were exceptional! We couldn't have asked for better people. Must be why we chose them! Big special thanks to Zoe who did an excellent and professional job in her death scene. It wasn't easy but she was exceptional! Great to work with! We wrapped the last scene at 2am. What a long, long day. We are tired, but we've got to do this again all day tomorrow. Here we go... |

May 16 Today was our party scene. Call time was at 11:30 and everyone was there early again. It was amazing! We had about 10 extras who came in to help us out. We had 2 no shows but 1 extra brought two friends which worked out great! We left a few roles open for some extras, so a lot of people were happy to be bumped up. However, we did give everyone at the party that didn't have lines, 1 liners for an insanity breakdown flash for the lead character. So everyone had screen time. Yay! Hopefully it won't go to the cutting room floor. If it does, we will be sure to put it in the deleted scenes. We had our location from 11-8. But then the owner requested we wrap up by 4. Boy did we hustle like crazy. We were almost done when 4 rolled around. He saw we weren't finished and let us go until 8. What a relief. That was so stressful! Since we already did most of the shots, we wrapped the actors by 6:00. Then crew had to go back to our 1st location yesterday for a pickup shot. We got there at 10pm and wrapped up by 1am. Another long day. Thank goodness tomorrow is Monday... we can sleep! Quick note - again ALL our actors were fantastic, extras and all. Same goes for crew. We are so lucky and blessed to have worked with these people. May 18 Found our pool! Phew! Close call! Shoot for the pool scene is set for this Saturday and we didn't even have one. Thanks to Charlie for finding one for us!!!Had to reschedule this Sunday's filming to a later time. It doesn't get dark until 9pm. Call time was 7. The owner was understanding and so were the actors. Sent out call sheets for the last 2 day shoot. Still waiting to hear from our contact regarding this Friday's shoot. It's cutting it close. May 20 Finally heard from our contact for our location tomorrow night. Can you believe that? It's so last minute. Good thing we gave crew and the principal actors a head's up and to hold that day and time. Phew! It all worked out. May 21 Filmed at the Zannino Funeral Home this evening. We couldn't start until after 9:30, when the home was closed. It was a good shoot. It ran until about 2 am. Not too bad. Thanks to the actors and crew for staying up late to help us with the film. Good thing we don't start filming tomorrow until a little bit later. May 22 Filmed at 2 locations today. First was at the park. We were scared there would be a lot of noise due to the cicadas but there were hardly there. Thankfully! We did have a problem with the bumble bees. Another crew member and I had a hard time concentrating on the filming as we were so busy dodging the bees. Yikes! It was funny because Sandy, the other crew, was on boom and when a bee flew by, it sounded so loud to her, like it was right in her ear that she went off running. At first we were going to just plant the mic, but we got our act together and we did it. The second location was at a home. We needed to film in a big enough bathroom that could host 2 dead bodies on the floor and another person in the shower - as well as the lighting and cameras and crew people. It was tight but it all worked out. Only problem is the bathroom ceiling is really low that we had to ask the actors to crouch down a bit to leave some headroom. I know that wasn't easy but they were all troopers. I'm telling you... we were blessed to have the people that we have. Everyone so far has been incredible! Even out diva... or should I say our DIVO. May 23 2 locations today. First was in the same bathroom as yesterday. Our two main actors today are from out of state - one from New Jersey, the other from Miami, FL. They are coming a long way to be part of our production and we are ever so grateful to them. The NJ actor died in his scenes today. The FL actor died yesterday. After those scenes, we went to the other location about 30 minutes away. Call time was 8:30 pm at Ruby's Cafe. We had a number of principal actors, a handful of extras and crew. The NJ actor was also in these scenes - what a long day for him. We filmed their set-ups for before their death scenes.. so yes, it was filmed backwards for the NJ actor as he had died earlier that day. Our extras were exceptional again! We have been very lucky! We wrapped the cafe by 11:30. Not too bad as we had 7 pages on the script to cover. We started filming at 9:30 and finished before midnight. Not bad. Howver, we weren't done. Extras were done, but the principal actors still had scenes to do outdoors. We went to the front home of one of the crew to use for the scenes. Problem was his house is near the woods and it was infested with cicadas. They were very loud and as soon as we blasted the lights, they came flying. It was hard for the female actors to keep their composure with the cicadas landing and crawling on them. It was hard for crew as well. We have lots of fun outtakes with these cicadas. If you don't even want to watch the movie, you have to at least watch the outtakes with the cicadas. I think we'll call it ... When Cicadas Attack the Set. We wrapped 2 principals at about 1:30am and had 1 more location in front of another home. No cicadas but we had a hard time with lighting. Eventually we wrapped at about 3am. And yes.. the NJ actor was one of the actors that worked until 3am. We had him stay over our home because we don't want him driving this late. Good thing he didn't have to get to work until noon. Thanks Sam! May 24 We rested today. We had a busy, busy weekend!!! May 25 We filmed pick-up shots with our Miami, FL actor today to explain why he wasn't wearing shoes when we did his scenes Saturday, since he forgot to bring it but was wearing it during the Friday shoot. We also went ahead and finished out his scenes prior to the murders. Shoot was from 1pm to 2:30pm. Not bad. After that, we had to run to our Saturday location to clean and dress it up for Saturday's scenes. It took us the rest of the afternoon and into the evening to prepare everything. It looks great. You'd never know that it was a bachelor pad. It now looks like a girl's room. May 27 Oh no! We got a call from our Sunday location that it has to be cancelled. Apparently the county had to shut them down due to an electrical problem and they won't be able to re-open until Tuesday. That's not good. We have about 20 actors and crew set to film on that day. Do you know how hard it will be to try and reschedule all the actors to film on another day? The stress!! It will be very hard to find another location on such a short noticel, but God has definitely blessed us. We made a few calls and one of the locations came through for us. The only problem is that the location is not cleaned up. There was a flood that happened there and it pretty much became a dumping storage area. We drove over late in the afternoon to see if it's workable. It's messy but we think it's useable. We offered to clean it up. So now, that's what we are doing tomorrow. We better get some rest. Thank you Teddi Florence for being a lifesaver once again!!!! |
