THIS IS A GIFT FROM A FATHER TO HIS SON

GUARD IT WISELY

You got it from your Fahter
It was all he had to give

So it's your's to use and cherish
For as long as you may live

If you lose the watch he gave you
It can always be replaced

But a black mark on your NAME
Son, can never be erased

It was clean the day you took it
And a worthy NAME to bear

When he got it from his Father
There was no dishonor there

So make sure you guard it wisely
After all is said and done

You'll be Glad the NAME is spotless
When you give it to your son

HAPPY FATHER DAY
FROM YOUR SON'S AND DAUGHTER
WERE MAKING YOU PROUD OF US

This letter was written from a Daughter for her Father

HI
SINCE YOU ARE HONORING DAD'S THIS SATURDAY,
I THOUGHT I WOULD BRIEFLY TELL YOU ABOUT MY DAD
WHO SEEMED VERY TENSE AFTER THE WAR.
WHAT HE HAD NOT SHARED WAS HIS EXPERIENCES
AND THAT HE WAS STILL AND IS TO THIS DAY, HAVING
FLASH BACKS ABOUT THE WAR.
ONE DAY I ASKED HIM, WHAT HAD BEEN THE
VERY WORST EXPERIENCE HE HAD HAD DURING THE WAR
AND HE THOUGHT AND THEN BEGAN TO BRIEFLY DESCRIBE
GOING IN AFTER THE WAR TO CLEAN UP AFTER THOUSANDS HAD BEEN SLAIN.
I BELIEVE THIS WAS A BREAKTHROUGH FOR MY DAD
AND FROM THAT DAY ON HE BEGAN
TO RELAX AND LAUGH AND LIVE FREER
AND EASIER AND SHARE A LITTLE MORE
ABOUT HIS INVOLVEMENT IN THE WAR.

SO I SUBMIT THIS STORY
TO HONOR MY DAD,
A PURPLE HEART RECIPIENT,
WHO FOUGHT DURING W.W.II

I WROTE THIS STORY FOR MY DAD TO HELP GIVE HIM A
MUCH MORE OPTIMISTIC OUTLOOK
REGARDING W.W.II

THE MILLION DOLLAR WOUND
OR WHAT ELSE COULD GO WRONG?
MY FATHER HAD SEEN NOTHING BUT RAIN AND MUD WHILE
BEING CONFINED IN TRENCHES FOR 14 SOLID DAYS.
HE HAD CERTAINLY HAD ENOUGH AND
WAS JUST ABOUT AT THE END OF HIS ROPE.
HE JUST HAD DECIDED TO LIFT HIMSELF
UP A LITTLE HIGHER ABOVE HIS TRENCH
WHICH PROBABLY GAVE AWAY
THEIR POSITION AND ALLOWED THE ENEMY
TO GET A GOOD VIEW
OF THEIR LINES WHEN ENEMY MORTAR HEADED THEIR WAY
AND HE HAD BEEN HIT, HE WAS WOUNDED.
HE CALLED FOR THE MEDIC.

BY THE WAY THESE MEDICS NEVER
GET THE RECOGNITION THEY DESERVE.
THEY ARE THE ONES WHO ARE NOT ABLE
TO STAY UNDERCOVER.
THEY HAVE TO GO OUT UNDER ENEMY FIRE
TO RESCUE ANYONE IN NEED.
THEY ARE ALWAYS LAYING DOWN THEIR LIVES
FOR SOMEONE ELSE. EVERYONE ELSE
WAS AT LEAST ALLOWED TO DUCK AND STAY OUT OF FIRE.
THE MEDICS TOOK MY DAD TO A TENT
IN THE FIELD AND TRIED AS BEST AS THEY
COULD TO REMOVE AS MUCH SHRAPNEL
AS POSSIBLE AND THEN AIR LIFT MY DAD
SHORE SIDE TO THE NEAREST NAVAL HOSPITAL
WHERE HE WAS GIVEN CLEAN LINENS,
CLEAN DRY CLOTHES AND A WARM, DRY BED.
WHAT WAS EVEN NICER
WAS THE NURSE HANDED HIM A VERY REFRESHING COLD GLASS OF MILK.
MY DAD WAS NOT THE HAPPIEST MAN,
BUT AT LEAST HE WAS A LITTLE MORE COMFORTABLE
THAN HE HAD BEEN IN THOSE COLD WET TRENCHES.
IF HE HAD ONLY KNOWN THAT IT WAS GOD'S PLAN
TO RESCUE HIM THAT DAY.
WHILE HE WAS FEELING SO SORRY FOR HIMSELF,
JUST LYING THERE IN THAT HOSPITAL BED
WITH SHRAPNEL FRAGMENTS STILL LODGED
IN HIS VERY FRESH WOUND,
THE REST OF HIS GROUP HAD SEEN COMPLETE ANNIHILATION.
IF HE HADN'T BEEN WOUNDED,
THEN HE TOO WOULD HAVE BEEN ONE OF THE W.W.II
CASUALTIES THAT DAY. GOD HAD ANOTHER PLAN.
WE THANK GOD, WHO KEPT MY FATHER AND ANSWERED HIS PRAYERS THAT DAY.
THAT INJURY NOT ONLY SAVED HIS LIFE BUT
THAT DISABILITY AND INJURY GAVE HIM AN ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION
FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE THAT CERTAINLY CAME IN VERY
HANDY RAISING THE 10 CHILDREN THAT GOD WOULD
BE GIVING HIM WHEN HE RETURNED TO THE STATES.

SO YOU SEE, WHAT HE HAD SEEN FOR EVIL,
GOD HAD MEANT FOR GOOD.
OH, HOW WE DO NOT UNDERSTAND
GOD'S LOVE AND HIS VERY AWESOME PROVISION
FOR OUR LIVES AS HIS CHILDREN.
I AM SO ETERNALLY GRATEFUL
FOR GOD'S PROVIDENTIAL CARE.

I'M PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN WHERE AT LEAST I KNOW I, AM FREE!
Your Daughter
GAIL GLASS

THIS BOX IS YOUR GIFT
FROM YOUR SON'S AND DAUTGHTER'S
IN THE MILITARY
WE LOVE YOU DAD

This is a very special gift

The reason it's so special
it's just for you from me

When ever you are lonely,
or even feeling blue

You only have to hold
this gift and know
I am thinking of you

You never can unwrap it
Please leave the ribbon tied

Just hold the box
close to your heart
It's filled with love inside.

FOR THOSE THAT LOST THEIR FATHER

God saw that he was tired
And the cure was not to be
So he put his arms around him
And whispered, come with me

With tearful hearts
We watched him fade away.
Although we loved him dearly
We could not made him stay

A golden heart stopped beating
Hard working hands to rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us
That he only takes the BEST
