The running water is my ancestor;
Flowing strong as the land gave birth;
As I entered life under sister sun;
A child of mother earth.
A brother of the roaming wolf;
In touch with heaven’s sky;
Enriched by a common spirit;
I can decipher the eagle’s cry.
Determined to die at home;
With dignity, in peace;
Not in a man made cage;
Where my spirit can’t release;
And fly away free,
On the wing of a bird;
Over rock, across desert,
Where it’s song can be heard.
A soul is not quiet.
It sings as it goes;
Chanting a tune;
Only the happiest knows.
