04/15/2003 It is estimated that teen sensation Boa brough in the equivalent of 4 million US dolllars during her recent Japanese tour concert. About 44,000 spectators watched Boa perform in 6 separate concerts she held from March 27 to April 6. Tickets averaged about 50 US dollars. Ticket sales alone brought in $2 million in revenue. Several tickets were also said to be scalped at 3 or 4 times the face value especially at Boa's last two concerts in Tokyo. Also a lot of Boa merchandise was sold at the concert sites in Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo. Everything from T-Shirts ($28), necklaces ($58), pamphlets ($20) and cell phone strings ($10) were sold before, during and after the concerts. Silver necklaces bearing Boa's initial "B" were especially popular among the Japanese public. According to SM Entertainment sales from accessories and such brought in an extra 2 million dollars for a total of $4 million in profit from the concert tour and even used the term "walking business enterprise" when describing the teen sensation. Each of the 6 concerts were sold out in the first couple of days of sale. The 16 year old gasoo has proved to be popular among a wide range of groups in Japan from female teenagers to men in their 20's and 30's. Looking ahead Boa will be staying in Japan until at least April 14 when her 9th Japanese single "Shine We Are" is scheduled for release. Then she will fly to Los Angeles for a Hollywood Bowl Concert on April 26. After that she will return to Korea to finish recording her 3rd Korean album to be released in mid May. In early June she's scheduled to fly to Shanghai to take on a leading role in a Hong Kong movie (name yet to be revealed). She will be acting with top Hong Kong actors Yang Ja Kyung and Jang Hak Woo during her 8 day stay in China for the action adventure film.
04/05/2003 Boa’s last concert in Japan ended on April 5th in Tokyo. With 15,000 audiences filling up the Yoyoki stadium, Boa performed 18 songs throughout the concert which lasted for an hour and forty minutes. The concert started with "Listen To My Heart", a number one hit in year 2002. Former Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori attended the concert with his wife, and after her performance was over, he personally visited backstage to congratulate Boa on her successful concert. Boa’s Japan tour began on March 27th in Osaka and went on to Nagoya on the 30th and 31th. It ended in a grand finale in Tokyo on the 5th and 6th. The concert gathered a total of 44,000 audiences. Boa said that she was very happy to have ended her first Japan concert successfully and that she plans to hold one in Seoul this coming fall.
04/01/2003 Adidas has given BoA the chance to achieve her dream of designing clothes. They are producing two T-shirts designed personally by BoA to sell in their stores and at her concerts. One will be sold in stores and one will be sold at BoA's tour stops. The first design started to sell on March 21. The Adidas shirts sports a "BoA 16 Japan" on the back and are sold for 4,900 yen. The shirts are available in white/orange(shown), aluminum/pink, and graphite/white. The shirt sold at the concerts have a picture of a girl dancing.
Adidas started this trend of allowing Japanese music artists to design clothes with Chemistry, who took part in the 2002 World Cup Korea/Japan music collaboration. BoA is their second artist. She has always expressed interest in art, saying that she would like to formally learn design when she stops singing.

Psy has, on more than one occasion, expressed his "tender" feelings toward Boa during the past few months. He appeared as a guest at Boa's fan meeting event and sang his hit song "Paradise" with her, after which he expressed his "feelings" by giving her a brotherly bear hug. Apparently, Boa, who is in New York for vocal and dance training, contacted Psy and requested that he write two songs for her 3rd studio album, which is scheduled to be released in May. She specifically requested that one be a fast piece, "psy style," and the other a slower number that they can sing together. Psy, of course, has gladly accepted her request.

Boa is Korea’s latest tour attraction item. Hanhwa Tourism has organized a new package tour that includes a trip to Boa’s concert in Japan at Tokyo’s National Stadium on April 5th and a tour around the city. The special package tour is limited to 30 people only and the total price of 800 thousand won includes airfare, hotel, and tour for two nights and three days. Boa’s management SM Entertainment commented that only 30 tickets are available for this special tour because all the tickets to Boa’s concert have been sold out already. Boa’s concert tour to Japan will begin on March 27th in Osaka followed by Nagoya on the 30th and Tokyo on April 5th.
03/13/2003 A company in Hong Kong has offered BoA a part in a blockbuster film which isn't only going to be released in China, Korea, and Japan but also Hollywood. If she signs the contract, it would definitely open the doors to international recognition. Last year, BoA had received an offer from Hong Kong to star in a movie, but due to her busy schedule at that time and because she was busily recording, there was no time, and so she declined the offer. However, in the movie role currently being offered to her, she will be able to keep her image as a singer and have an option in the OST, so it seems this is a good chance for her. The only problem is that the movie is due to release this fall, so beginning May and June, she will have to shoot busily to be able to meet the release date; as long as her scheduled album to release gets pushed back a little, it is possible for her to take part in this movie.
Boa, who is currently one of the most popular singers in Japan, having hit first on the Oricon chart with both of her full albums, has also had netizens post online about the chances of BoA starring as an Asian character in the movie, "Harry Potter". Recently, she is practicing for her concert in Japan, and she will receive Japan's Golden Disc award at the NHK hall on the 12th.
03/10/2003 Word is out that Boa will appear in a Hong Kong blockbuster movie. She is to play the role of a teenage pop music star and daughter of a billionaire. The title of the movie and the director have not been finalized yet but it has been confirmed that along with Boa, Hong Kong’s top stars Michelle Yeoh and Jacky Cheong will play the main roles. As soon as Boa signs the contract, she will begin shooting in May. The movie will be released sometime in the fall.
01/27/2003 It seems that all we ever hear about is Boa these days. Well, she has made it to the top once again. Her single ‘Valenti’ sold 920,000 albums on the day of its release in Japan. She made it to the top of the Oricon chart in exactly 10 months since ‘Listen to My Heart’ last year. Her first concert tour around Japan is scheduled to begin on March 27. Word is out that 9,000 tickets to her concert were sold out in 15 minutes. Go Boa!
01/01/2003 Boa took home the Best Artist of the Year Award at SBS TV’s "2002 Korean Music Awards Ceremony". Boa’s "No.1" and "Miracle" albums both topped the charts in Korea and Japan throughout 2002. Her "No.1" album sold more than 600,000 copies and "Miracle" album 300,000 copies in Korea. Boa also became a star in Japan when her song "Valenti" took the number one spot on the Japanese Oricon Chart.
