Rituals can be a hard task
for teens, apart from dealing with time management due to
school and other commitments; most of us also have to deal
with parents and lack of resources due to small pockets. This
can become a bit of a strain and causes us to pull away from
our crafts. So, to help ease the tension, I have come up with
teen ways to approach rituals with little no to resources
and without drawing a great deal of unwanted attention.
Tools
ƒ Elements
----Water - a glass of water
----Air - incense
----Fire - a candle
----Earth - a dish of soil or salt
ƒ God/dess - gold ring
or jewelry for god, silver for goddess. Or another form of
representaion, even little plastic toys, if need be.
ƒ Crystals - when buying
crystals it is best to buy multi purpose crystals like clear
quartz, amethyst, etc or stick to the chakra stones.
ƒ Wand - a stick from
the garden
ƒ Herbs - raid the
pantry
ƒ String - raid the
sewing kit
ƒ Oils - buy common
use oils like, Bergamot (money, success), Cinnamon (attraction,
speed, enhancing), Frankincense (purification, luck (and myrrh)
- protection, purification, spirituality), Honeysuckle (money,
psychic powers), Lavender (healing, peace, love, sleep), Patchouli
(love, money, fertility), Sage (wisdom, purification, clarity),
Vanilla (love, lust, relationship) and Ylang ylang (opportunity,
peace, spiritual balance).

Books
and resources
Instead of buying books, borrow them, or use the Internet
to make up your own from what you take and with your personal
views. This is better than any book because it will have all
that you want in the one place, keep this book as a reference
book only, separate from your ritual and workings book.
Sacred
space
Well, as teens, most of us have our room as our castle, it
is a bubble filled with our own energy, it is where we spend
a great deal of our lives (even if its just while we sleep).
So if you don't have anyway to run away for some privacy,
you can generally find it in your room. I mean, its nice if
you can find a place of peaceful and secluded land close to
nature, but most of us run on a time schedule and whilst we
are learning, its best to make it fun and not a pain in the
ass.
Raising
energy
This is simply done by dancing around to music in your room,
singing along to it, clapping your hands and just jumping
about, all with your intent in mind.
Casting
a circle
I found a simple way to cast a circle was to stand in the
centre of where you wish to work and point to the ground beneath
you, and as you spin around (sun-wise) raise your arms up
slowly (whilst visualising a sphere), until they are pointing
directly above you. Do this then with your arms going down
and then finally up again (so it is sealed three times). Or
stand in the centre and with your finger "draw"
a wide circle on the floor around you, then from the point
you started from go along the diameter as if drawing under
the ground and up and above you to complete the circle back
where you started from. As if "zipping" yourself
in with two circles, repeated three times.
Calling
the quarters
You may or may not wish to do this, if your new and still
learning, just focus on the positive energy within the sphere,
but if you are open and willing to call the quarters and dedicate
it to the god/dess (or however you choose), go for it. If
not, just do something simple like thanking the elements and
spirit.
Deities
Whilst you are still learning, it may be easier to refer to
the spirit as the god/dess plain or just as spirit. It is
unwise to call upon the powers of deities that you have not
researched properly. Before calling on their help, make sure
that you know the stories they are connected with and their
pro's and con's or you might have adverse effects!
Simple rituals
Simple forms of magick are candle, petition and knot magick.
Some examples Banishing ritual (good for healing, addictions, unwanted
attention, negative energies, etc)
A simple ritual requiring little resources is to write your
objective on a piece of paper and as you face each direction,
subject a quarter of the paper to each of the corresponding
elements asking for the properties to aid you (I would suggest
fire last). Eg, "Powers of earth, help me to bury my
problem of ___. (air - blow away, water - wash away, fire
- burn away)" Or "Air for imagination", "Water
for vision", "Fire for courage", etc. It's
all to do with your aim. And make sure you are near a fireproof
dish!
Simple
everyday rituals
You may choose to
ƒ Light a candle every evening
(if its in your room, make sure its in a fire proof dish and
away from flammable things like curtains, I learnt that the
hard way!).
ƒ Cultivate a herb garden,
even if it's just the culinary herbs your folks use for dinner.
ƒ Start and end the day with
a simple chant. For example, Here's
the sun to light my way, bringing with her another day, to
the lord and lady I do pray, keep me safe throughout the day.
So Mote It Be. Or, Day
is done, it's time for bed, Goddess bless my sleepy head,
peaceful moon do shine your light and bring sweet dreams for
me tonight.
ƒ Have a purification bath
at night (and before a full ritual).
ƒ Take a garden walk.
ƒ Eat healthy, and thank the
god/dess, earth and sun etc for your meal.
ƒ Dedicate time to study your
craft.
ƒ Watch the last 5 mins of
the sun going down (or first 5 rising!).
ƒ Keep cut flowers in fresh
water everyday.
ƒ Feed the birds (or the insects).
ƒ Clean your room (!!!) and
clean out the negative energies.
ƒ Dress each day by the colour
correspondences.
ƒ Keep a journal (diary, dream,
both, etc.)
ƒ Or other simple tasks that
involve nature, life and positive energies.

a ritual just ask Silveronyx or I.
