| To give a simple description of what a cotte is, it’s a simple dress worn under another dress. Because you will wear something over it, it should be made of a light fabric or you will suffocate, especially during the summer. Pattern I have used McCall’s 8937. The result will give you a large (not too large) cotte, very comfortable but the collar is very close of the neck and gives straight dress. Fabric I made this cotte with indian cotton. It’s light, comfortable but transparent It takes 5 m of fabric for a simple cotte. Advice Because of all the pleats around the neckline, it really take more fabric than you think so a non expensive fabric will be a good choice because after all we will see only a part of this dress. |
