| Greetings from the land of camels,tents and veiled women!! Really, a lot of people we spoke to thought that Saudis live in tents and use camels for transportation and that each Saudi has an oil-well of his own. |
| Saudia Arabia Saudi Arabia,when one hears the name,one remembers what is seen in movies,cartoons and stories such as "A thousand and one nights","Sinbad" ,"Ali Baba" and many others. To others it would be the land where Islam was revealed to Muhammad the prophet(sala Allahu alyhi wasallam). To others still,it would be Desert Storm and Norman Shwarzkopf. To the rest of the world it is the land of oils and riches! |
| In Real Life GOLD AND RICHES: We are not all rich ,as some say we are.saudis differ in status whether monetary or social,as any other people.It's true that we don't have to pay taxes and our government pays for education ,civil and health services.Some people have a lot and others have barely enough to meet their necessities and others are quite poor. Here a person's upbringing(religious and social)will really be the criterion to be able to deal with whatever status that that person is...As all over the world,each person thrives to become better,to have more ,to be somebody.To us religion and upbringing again are the main factors..Many are content with whatever they have and do the most they can with what they have.Others try to be richer and richer,and some get lost on the way because they never have time to really enjoy what they already have. WOMEN'S PRIVILEGES: Islam has already given women their rights,so everybody's clear on that.No need for fighting or trying to prove anything.The real problem lies in people's ignorance of our religion.If all our men and women really knew and understood the real concept of the status of women in Islam,everybody would be happy.The thing is that many women feel oppressed and try to break free of something caused only by ignorance and that can be fixed easily(slowly but surely)through teaching and learning real Islam! Islam has given rights to every human being whether a man ,woman,child(girl or boy),servants,leaders...etc.The problem again is in the application.If men applied the true teachings of Islam,women would have been more content,and if women applied the true teachings of Islam men would have an easier life. As to why women have to cover and are they ordered to do so by the men the answer is yes and no. Yes: Because in islam,men are accountable by Allah on the day of Judgement for their womenfolk and children. No: Women are doing it because they know these are not men's orders but Allah's orders and they also will be accountable for not dressing properly on The Day of Judgment.Even if the husband or father or brother do not want their women to dress islamically,the women are not to obey them,for you are not to disobey Allah for the sake of obeying a soul. EDUCATION: All girls go to school and get an education,after that most of them go to college or university(Arts,Sciences,Literature and Medicine Schools),and each gets a monthly allowance from the government to cover book expenses. WORK: Schools:teachers,management. Colleges and universities:the deans,the professors,the management.....etc,all female. Hospitals,doctors,hairdressers,private businesses,seamstresses and fashion,even shopkeepers (in women' malls). |
