The event was enjoyed by all - horses, riders, and spectators. The improvements in the performances of horses and riders each year is obvious, and the quality of competition continues to increase. Dennis Mahoney will be taking on clients for lessons and training throughout the summer at their own farms and facilities accross the west coast. The only thing he requires would be a good flat surface to ride on, in a safe area from traffic (or that the area to be fenced in if it is near traffic). Dennis is a successful hunter/jumper trainer and coach from Gagetown, NB and has trained and managed high-level hunters and jumpers at horse shows across Canada and the US. For more information email Dennis at dennymahoney@hotmail.com or call 634-9796 / 660-0330. (posted April 9/08)

Are you interested in working towards Equine Canada’s English or Western Instructor or Coaching Levels?
One of the prerequisites is attending an Equine Specific NCCP Course. This course replaces the generic NCCP course and the EC Learn to Teach Course and is a great learning experience and update for all equestrians and coaches. This is a full 2-day course that will only be offered periodically by the NEA as we must bring in a course conductor. If this course goes ahead this year it is not likely there will be enough participants to hold a course for a couple of years.
The cost for the course is $200. This is the standardized fee across Canada, which includes the course manual and covers the course conductor day fees, flight and accommodations. The course will be all day Saturday and Sunday. Full attendance is mandatory but there is no exam. It will help prepare you to pass the on-line “Making Ethical Decisions” NCCP module.
We will need at least 10 people who must pay a $100 down payment to arrange a course.
If enough people pre-register from the west coast we may offer this course late May in conjunction with the Western Coaching update planned for in Steady Brook. If enough people pre-register from the east coast area we may plan a course for St. John’s this spring also.
Please pass this on to anyone who you think might be interested.
For more information and to pre-register contact Erin Gallant at eringallant@hotmail.com or 687-0306 ASAP or Angela Tulk at atulk@nf.aibn.com or 745-8401, NEA Coaching Coordinators. (posted March 13/08)

A general meeting and the 2008 Election of Officers will take place on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 2:00pm at Marble Inn in Steady Brook. To be eligible to vote in the election or run for a position on the board, you must hold a current membership with the WNEC. (For more about joining the WNEC, click HERE.) We encourage everyone to come out and attend this meeting! The support and participation of west coast horsepeople is essential to our club's success in 2008. (posted February 15/08)
