Thomas T. was only in Texas for a year before he was ambushed, shot and killed in 1846. He was always identified as Thomas Bullock from Bedford County, Tennessee. He married Frances Williams in Rutherford County, Tennessee.
In San Augustine County Library there are storries about the first settlers in San Augustine, Texas. There is a story about the death of Tomas T. Bullock.
It was written by W. W. Boren. It goes like this:

"Death of Thomas T. Bullock"
Theophilus Thomas suspected Downer of stealing his hogs, and was reported to have said that he would get THOMAS  BULLOCK and a party, and go after Downer and hang him. Downer feared Thomas Bullock, who was a resolute, fearless man, more then anyone else, and he accordingly waylaid and shot him near the little branch that crosses the road just east of the
T.S. McFarland (Dr. J. H. Sharp) place.

BULLOCK knew nothing, probably, of Theophilius' remarks that caused Downer to kill him. When his body was dicovered the neighbors gathered around, among them L.R. Davis, who pointed to the wound, thrusting his finger into it, saying, "Here is what killed him".

Another version for the story was released by Tom W. Blount:
THOMAS BULLOCK was killed by DOWNER. They had quarreled and BULLOCK had forbidden Downer to pass his house on pain of death. Downer waited for and shot Thomas Bullock.

Downer was arrested and placed in a wooden jail (made of 12 inch hewn timbers, built log house fashion with upper and lower floors of the same). There was a large iron lock with a heavy key. A negro blacksmith living on the Tatliff place took a wax impression and made a key. Mrs. Downer opened the door with it one night and sent him off with a horse and money
($250) to Mexico where he later died.
** AT THIS POINT I AM LOOKING FOR INDIAN BLOOD IN THE CHILDREN OF THOMAS T. BULLOCK AND SARAH "SALLY" R. BULLOCH.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
WE ARE TOLD THAT THESE CHILDREN ARE PART CHEROKEE INDIAN AND I HAVE ALMOST NO INFORMATION ON THE BACKGROUND OF FRANCES "FRANKIE" WILLIAMS.

OUR GR.GR. GRANDPARENTS:
(son of Thomas T. Bullock and daughter of
James Whitis Bulloch). Grandma told us that her mom was almost half Cherokee Indian? Not sure how yet!

*Also the family of Arzera Bullock (sister to Thaddeus) was told "she" was part Indian. She was a medicine woman.

(I thought it odd that all of the "daughters" of Thomas T. and Sarah Bullock have names starting with the letter "A". Wondering if this was some kind of traddition?
