Tameside (Home) 30th November 2002 (3-0)
An easy win makes us wonder how we ever lost before. The home advantage may have helped but this Wolverhampton have come on immensely since that match in the beginning of October. Pressure caused by very hard serving meant lots of free balls coming back and so Wolverhampton were able to build some impressive deceptive attacks! Good all round defensive play including a spectacular pick up from Donna Bowler meant Tameside struggled to find the floor. This was a good win against the team currently topping the division and keeps us moving up the table as we begin to catch up all those matches!

Loughborough Students 3 (Home) 23rd November 2002 (3-0)
One of our best performances yet. Good defence lead to a variety of attacks and the opposition struggled due to the strength of the Wolverhampton block. The first set was quickly won 25-13. Yet again Wolverhampton stormed ahead in the second set, but a change of setter ( Kate Rothery for Donna Bowler) meant adjusting and Loughborough were allowed to come back. However the set was won 25-16 by a fantastic attack, Kerri Olding taking the block and Val Melville finding the floor with a powerful spike. The third set went along much the same lines and Wolverhampton drew the match to a close, the third set score 25-22. Now that we are finally off the bottom of the table, we can look towards the rest of the season! With only one match lost, the match against Tameside next week could potentially decide who tops the table at the end of the year.

TH Lynx CUP MATCH (Home) 17th November 2002 (3-1)
A late arrival from TH Lynx forced them to concede the first set. Wolverhampton built on their advantage by winning the second set, despite the score being almost even for the whole duration. The third set was more one sided, with good attacking round the block from TH Lynx sending them points ahead. Good serving from Sally Jones made the score more respectable but the gap was too much for Wolverhampton to pull back. The third set was again, fiercely fought. Good blocking from Kelli Hibbs and Val Melville kept Wolverhampton two points ahead throughout despite constant pressure from TH Lynx. The set was finally won 25-23 by a good wipe off the block by Kerri Olding. Wolverhampton hope to be a s successful in this competition as last year, quite a high target!

Tameside (Away) 6th October 2002 (1-3)
With a new coach and new players expectations were high at newly promoted Tameside, a team with even younger players than ourselves. Wolverhampton started the game well with a first set victory, however Tameside quickly adjusted to the pace. Wolverhampton struggled to find their form, although attacking play was very promising with a large variety of attacks. Unfortunately this didnt pay off as Tameside kept the pressure on with good serving and steady play, enabling themselves to win 3-1. Wolverhampton however are looking forward to playing Tameside on our home soil!
