AMERICA, HOME OF THE FREE

After The Terror of Sept. 11th Oh Lord Whose prayers will you hear? Whose tears will you dry? Whose battle will be won? How many must die? What freedoms will we lose? What price will we pay? What fate will be ours at the end of the day? Oh Lord, please help us see that hate is the enemy... Consciousness Look at the world that we live in- is society proud of our deeds? Children are carrying weapons, not contemplating hate bleeds. Fathers are raping their daughters, while mothers turn a blind eye. Children are murdering children as morality continues to die. The media glorifies violence, makes martyrs of killers and crooks. We sensationalize all that is evil, in music, movies and books. We legislate the rights of a criminal, plea bargain and then set him free to continue his rampage of terror, then he claims that it’s insanity. What happened to the conscience of mankind? Are progress and money the goal? Did we forget about kindness and justice? Does it matter if we lose our soul? When terrorists attack our cities, we speak of the evil they do, but stop and look in the mirror- morality begins with you. What future do we give our children when hatred and greed lead the way? What hope is there left for tomorrow when man thinks that evil’s okay? God help us to help each other have faith in humanity, and live in this world together in peace for eternity. I Shall Have Peace... When nations choose to live in peace with all their fellow man, and neighbors help each other any selfless way they can; I shall have peace. When children are not abused and fathers never leave, and parents choose to not abort the babies they conceive; I shall have peace. When people do not judge a man by the color of his skin, and the justice system works for all not just affluent men; I shall have peace. When rain forests are treated like the treasures that they are, and people realize that God created Earth and stars; I shall have peace. When children have enough to eat and the air we breathe is clean, our rivers are a crystal blue and hills and valleys green; I shall have peace. When people stop and realize that each of us will pay, if we do not protect this Earth by doing our share today, I shall have peace. When we can live in harmony to save this Earth below, When we decide to follow God in Heaven’s plan I know; I shall have peace....

Call For Peace When mankind realizes what we need and stops the violence, the hate and greed, then looks to God for answers to his prayer, prosperity and peace will be the fare. When we teach children love and harmony, respect all people’s right to dignity, reach out to help each neighbor, rich or poor, together we can end the scourge of war. May God above have mercy on all men who do not see that hate’s the greatest sin. I Thought... I thought that I had cried all the tears that I could cry. I thought that I had suffered until I watched so many die. I thought that I would never see the vile that I’ve seen. I always thought my world was so perfect and serene but today my life was changed and will never be the same. I took so much for granted, Lord please help me, I’m to blame. I thought I had the power to control my own fate. I thought that if I loved there would be no room for hate, but now I know the secret to your sacred master plan and I know that it must start in the heart of every man. We must put our faith in God, confess our sins and then concede that if we surrender all our power he will grant our every need. Let Freedom Ring To the heroes of our homeland, to the soldiers, one-and-all, to the people of the world in every nation, great or small, we are proud to stand united. With courage we’ll prevail. Our forces will be mighty, our efforts will not fail. Chorus Hold my hand, go with me to defend our liberty. Take a stand, walk with me to protect humanity. In God we trust, somehow we must let freedom ring.

In Praise of Heroes Amidst the ash and rubble heroes stop to cry, and pray for those who perished as Old Glory waves near by. What can we say to tell them how proud they make us feel with their courage and compassion, their expertise and zeal? In spite of all the dangers they struggle to prevail, hoping for a miracle, working without fail. America salutes you, honors those who died. You are the spirit of freedom, you are this country’s pride. I Dare To Dream Someday I dream that my children’s daughters and sons will no longer have to worry about wars with bombs and guns. For I dare to dream of peace. I dare to anticipate that the world will someday soon be void of terror and hate. I dare to see a day when there is true equality and no man will be condemned for his color or theology. I dare to picture a world where hunger does not exist, a world where’s there’s no abuse and corruption does not subsist. You may call me a “bleeding heart,” or an idealist-that’s okay, but still I dare to dream that my dream will be real someday.

Dedicated to the men and women of the NYFD, the NYPD,
and all those who helped in the aftermath of 911.
