| After the dust had settled, the World Trade Center stood no more. An estimated 300 rescue personal and thousands of people were killed. The two towers now were giant piles of rubble. Firefighters, police, and paramedics searched for any survivors or bodies. Their success was grim. |

| The following days after the attack, clean up began. The search for bodies continued, day and night, seven days a week. The rescuers were exhausted but went on. Some surrounding buildings were severely damaged and some even collapsed. The other buildings were covered with dust and needed cleaning. The fires in the debris was not put out for 99 days after the attack. The area where the World Trade Center once stood, also known as ground zero, is blocked off. The clean up will eventually be complete but the memory of September 11th will last forever. |
