1999 CFFL Podunk Pirates
In 1999 the team began the season with a new look by changing their team idenity. The league voted after the '98 season to drop the NFL team names and add their own names to their teams. The Podunk Pirates logo, "The Crazy One Legged Pirate", was also introduced in 1999. The Pirates headed into the '99 season with Steve Young, the '98 CFFL Points Leader, but with Young going down in week three with a concussion the team struggled.  The Pirates had their worst season as a franchise going 4-10 and missing the playoffs for the second time.  The only positive outcome to the '99 season was the addition of two draft picks for '00.

1999 Podunk Pirates MVP
Michael Westbrook was drafted in '99 by the Pirates in the first round.  Westbrook established himself as one of the leagues top ten wide receivers.  He finished the year with 168 points and started thirteen games for the Pirates.
