God bless, Brian and Chiqui Ridenour Iberoamerican Missionaries PO Box 1493 Monroe, WA 98272 |
This year has been an adventurous year. There have been high times and there have been low times, but through all of them we have been looking to God and the hope that He has placed in us. We have been working hard, studying, and trying to maintain our daily lives without losing focus. And God has pulled us through it all. I must begin by saying that we are sorry for not posting an update for quite a while. We have been very busy this year and the time just flew by us. These last few months have been filled with many big activities in the churches with missions teams coming in summer; the church in Nueva Jerusalem has launched and there are regular Sunday services; we were blessed with a team of doctors who came with boxes of medicine and blessed the community with a week long free clinic. The year has been busy, but it has been a great blessing to many. |
"I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God us my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise." Psalm 18:1-3a |
In June we were blessed with a team from Rolling Hills Christian for the first time. A good friend of mine, Josh, was leading the team filled with some great kids from his youth group and some of their leaders. The team was a true blessing and the church here was very happy with their time here. The team dedicated to doing some construction at the three different churches, they worked in the afternoons doing English labs at the local university and at a language institute, and they participated in all the different ministries from the feeding program, AWANA, and the weekly Bible studies and church services. In all the team had a great impact on the community with their hard work and great attitudes. In the English labs there were some teachers that didn't want to recieve them but the director made them, and later they came back asking us for more of them to enter their classroom. The group was especially impressive because for most of the team it was their first mission trip. From a more personal side, it was great to spend time with Josh talking, catching up, and learning from him and the experience he has working with youth and in ministry in general. He truly helped Chiqui and I out with his guidance. A few weeks later we were able to go to the states for a friends wedding and we had a couple days free to spend with Josh and his family as well. They are a blessing in our lives and we thank God for putting them here. |
In October the church in Nueva Jerusalem launched its first official weekly Sunday service. It was a great day that began with the baptisms of a whole family. Since the team has arrived for the park and forrestation project the community has really seen the church in a new light. And when the first service was kicked off the place was packed. The church has continued strong with constant attendance of children and adults alike. The leaders are being trained daily thanks to Jake, a missionary here until the end of the year. Please keep the church and it's leaders in your prayers because as of year's end they will be running it on their own. We all will still be here to support them in any way needed, but the church will be in their hands with God as the guide and strength. And the last major event taking place was the medical campaign. Through the week that the team was here we were able to see roughly 700 people with medical needs, and this year the team even brought some glasses to help many adults out with the bad eyesight due to the dry and sunny environment. The local church supported greatly in all aspects of ministering to the people from the moment they step into the church until the got their medicine from the pharmacy. There were many people prayed for, many decisions made, and many people on a list for us to follow up and visit. We as a church are very excited about the work that lies ahead of us. These next few months will be very busy for us all with Christmas coming up and then our summer being filled with missions teams and much time to spend with the youth group. We will be moving around a lot and we still have not been able to get a pickup truck. Someone was kind enough to offer to donate their '95 Pathfinder, but after months of waiting for answers we finally found out that only vehicles 2 years old and newer are allowed in the country. We would like to get a double cabin small pickup which would serve to carry contruction materials, but also the double cabin will serve to hold the youth and other church members. They begin at $12000 and we are only about half way there. If anyone would like to donate to this cause we would be very grateful and blessed. We would like to get one before mid-January because that is when it will be most needed. We will be sending out another update come years end and we will also let you know how this goes. Thank you all for your constant support. Your prayers are our strength. Continue. |
