I've come to known
City Harvest Church in sec 4. (that time known as Ekklesia ministry). I didn't really faithfully become a memeber of CHC then because I was attending another church,
HingHwa Methodist Church at that time. It seem to be that many people say that Ekklesia ministry is a cult church, I was confuse, never heard people speak in tongues before, miracle healing. Is that part of a christian life?
I was faithfully serve in HingHwa Methodist church at that time, was a youth fellowship leader...
I remember stepping into the conference hall on the 11th floor of World Trade centre in yr 1990. The whole hall is filled with young teenagers, all wearing very formal, shirt and ties for brothers, long flowery skirt for sister. All the sister were also wearing veils to cover their hairs. I ask my friend what is the head dress for, he have totally no idea, but said was to not mess up their hair while they are being prayed for(which later I realize is totally not true, but rather mention in the bible that women should cover their hair in the temple).
Anyway, the service started with a prayer meeting, everyone praying loudly in tongues, stretching out their hands and praying for everything from the sound system, worship team, to the preacher. We started with a very loud Praise, everyone was jumping up and down, dancing and shouting for joy to the Lord. During worship, the whole congregation kneel down before God. A time was given during worship to give a word, someone shouted and prophesy. Testimony time later, the friend that brought me say they always shared about money during the testimony, which prove to be right. Preaching later, Pst Kong was preaching about Samson that day, everyone take down notes like they were going to sit for an exam on this sermon. It ended with a close to 1 hr altar call, almost everyone responded and was prayed for. I just watch and see many fell under the power of God. Service ended, most people rushing for bible study classes.
This was my first service in Ekklesia, kind of very culture shock of what happen. Very interesting, but yet, the friend who brought me say it's a cult church, he don't belong to Ekklesia, but was brought the week before by another friend. He joined Ekklesia ministry a few weeks later. Many people from my secondary attended the church. I am not sure about the doctrine at that time. Add to the fact that I've seen many got saved and many also backslidded a few months later. Many things attracted me, the vibrant and exciting service where everyone dance and kneel to worship the living God, the congregation totally into the word to copy down notes and sold out to win the lost, the early morning prayer meeting by the people attending Ekklesia that prayed everyday outing my school for CTSS school revival etc...
I want to search out the truth, cause I am attracted by CHC, yet I do not want to believe in the wrong doctrine. After 3 years of research, I keep reading the bible, praying and asking God, I come to the conclusion that the doctrine is correct and of God. But I still got burden to lead the youth fellowship into greater growth in God. So I decide for one year, I will pray, lead prayer meeting, do all I know with the strength of God to make a different. It doesn't really work, I was dissapointed, then God told me "The will of men cannot be touch, even God don't choose to control them." I have done what I could, time to move on. I went to City Harvest Church in the very first week of the year 1994 and have been here ever since. I've since, grow tremendously in CHC. Hearing from many many fantastic preacher through out the world, Pst Phil Pringle, Pst Ulf Ekman, Pst A.R. Bernard, Pst John Avanzini, Pst Bill Wilson and many more. Especailly CHC senior Pst Kong and the whole leadership have impacted me greatly and I'm totally sold out for Jesus!
