Canada's indie rock scean thrives on the likes of Bucket Truck, Grimskunk, Gob, Bif Naked, Not By Choice, Sloan, etc. Shocore are one of the standouts of the them. The rap-rock group started when Vocalist Cory produced a record for Sho's Nefro. The two then started thier own band Shocore. Shocore is Sho's name mixed with Cory's name. They got four more people, of whom three were replaced (Bassist, Drummer, Sampler.) The band members ahd all worked with Cory, or Sho in other bands, or in studio recording. In July, 2001 Shocore got signed to Warners Canada's label Linus Entertainment. Almost a month later Shocore preformed at Molson Canadian's Snowjam. Swollen Members, Not By Choice, Grimskunk, and others preformed. The band's first single "Bonecracker" appears on the soundtrack. "Bonecracker" is a heavy riffed song, with hip-hop melodies. The song got highly requested on local Vancouver radio stations. It also got fair rotation on Muchmusic. The album "Devil Rock Disco" was released the day the video premiered. The catchy song was the show "Smallville." It hit U.S. radio and did alright. "High School Punk," "Bonecraker," and "Legendary Camaro" were choosen for the Outer Limits show. "High School Punk" was on the Jet Pack soundtrack too. "Bonecracker" was choosen for the X-Box soundtrack as well. The X-Box soundtrack has Cyrstal Method, and more on it. The band got to preform at the X-Box launch too. "Rudy" was "Devil Rock Disco's" second single. The song wasn't as big as "Bonecraker" and is more hip-hop then hard rock. In 2003 Shocore returned with thier new album "Evilution." The album has cameos by Hugh Dilon on "Fist Fight At Dawn," and Holly McNarland on "Good Talk." Hugh Dilon is frontman to Canadian rockers The Headstones. The first single from the album was "Right On". The video never got much airplay on Muchmusic, but got steady airplay on rock radio. The band replaced former drummer Andy Simpson with Bob Wagner who used to be in one of Canada's biggest rock groups Econoline Crush, and a band called Twist. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
