Punk-Pop threesome Blink 182 are todays biggest punk band. The group have had many sold-out shows and have toured everywhere. Blink 182's first hit was "Growing Up" in 1997. In 1997 Blink 182 had thier first drummer Scott was in, he was soon replaced by Travis Barker. "Growing Up" according to Billboard recieved the most airplay in 1997, on big radio stations. They were soon the biggest pop-punk group of the year. In 1997 Blink 182 released "Josie" which was also a hit. In 1999 Blink soared again with the hit song "Whats My Again?" The video, which shows them running around naked, was topping many rock, alternative, punk, and pop charts separtly. Next they released another big pop-punk hit "All The Small Things." The video goes after Britney Spears, and The Backstreet Boys. They preformed the song at the 2000 MTV Europe Video Awards and won best group video. They got nominations for Best Video, Best Pop Video, and won Best group video for "All The Small Things" at the 2000 MTV Videos Awards. Next was "Adam's Songs" which is about being lonely on tour and not as some people say suicide. This was also a hit. In 2000 the group released "The Mark, Tom, And Travis Show" [Enema Strikes Back] which was a sort of greatest hits album. It has the last the three hits of the hit album "Enema Of State", being "All The Small Things" "Whats My Age Again" and "Adam's Song." In summer 2001 Blink 182 released "The Rock Show." The song was massive topping many charts and was a-feel-good -song-of-the-summer. Blink then released the album "Take Off Your Pants And Jacket." The album was huge too. In the fall Blink 182 released the live video for "Anthem Part 2." At least five weeks later they released "Stay Together For The Kids." This song was not punk-pop like the last three songs but was still a hit. "In early 2002 they put out "First Date." The video was shot in Burneby B.C. and took less then a week. The song was punk-pop again. Later Tom and Travis decided to do a side project. The end result was Box Car Racer. Box Car Racer had an album out and the hit "I Feel So." On the album a Rancid member appears. Box Car Racer is for Tom to let out his serious side. Mark did his own work with Montreal's Simple Plan. Doing the song/video "I'd Do Anything." Travis appeared in P.Diddy's hit video "Bad Boy For Life" with rappers Black Rob, Mark Curry, and rocker Dave Navuaro. Blink 182 have had contrversy around them for thier stage acts. The toilet jokes, and swearing is a main part of it. The tasteless comedy is why some people come to thier shows. |
