X2-MOVIE |
(5-4) FINAL X2 Overview - It's been a great week for X-Men fans! X2 has an estimated weekend gross of $85+ million dollars, according to Box Office Mojo. That opening makes it the fourth highest opening release ever, trailing just behind Spider-Man, and the two previous Harry Potter films. Combine that w/ the overseas money, and X2 has pretty much already made most of it's money back, from the rumored $110-140 budget. Word has it that the people at FOX are VERY happy w/ X2's success so far! It was also previously mentioned that the cast of X2 got a million dollar raise, because FOX was so impressed by the film. In a recent interview w/ Jean Grey herself, Famke Jannsen stated that she's comitted to the X-Men films, and that they are a top priority for her (Good News!). Halle has stated in numerous interviews that she was very happy after seeing the film. She said that she has a great love for the character, and the universe. The reason she wasn't able to be at the films premiere, was because she had been shooting a film. No word yet on if she wants to return for a third round. Rebecca Romijn-Stamos aka Mystique and Alan Cumming aka Nightcrawler, have both confirmed that they have signed on to appear in another film. It has also been confirmed that Colossus himself, Daniel Cudmore, has signed on for a third film. X2 Director, Bryan Singer has stated that he'll deffinently be involved in X3 in some shape or form. The director said that if he doesn't direct the third film, he'll still be involved. Singer stated that if he comes back to direct, he wishes to film one or two smaller films, before taking on another big budgeted film. Though FOX wanted to cut down on piracy by releasing X2 world-wide on the same day, many copies of the film are already hitting the net...and no, I will not tell you where to get them, so please stop sending me e-mails ;-) (4-28) X2 Fans Gone Wild! - USA Today -- Here's a new way to measure fan excitement about a movie: Theft. Since unveiling the posters for its new movie X2: X-Men United, distributor 20th Century Fox has seen 168 of the advertisements stold from bus stops - including the stop in fron of Fox's Los Angeles studios. Almost 200 bus shelter ads of the new movie have been stolen in 15 cities. "We're thrilled that fans are that excited about the movie," says Jeffrer Godsick, Fox's executive vice president of marketing. "But those one-sheets aren't cheap." The poster have been stolen all across the US, in cities like: New York, Los Angeles, Detroit, and Chicago. LOL...if any of you fans stole a poster, please mail it directly to X2M...k? ;) USA Today also mentions that X2 has a $30 million marketing budget...pretty spiffy! (4-26) EXCLUSIVE: James Bamford on his Gambit role in X2 - Robert had the opportunity to e-mail James Bamford (A stunt actor), who was hired for the cameo appearence of Gambit in X2. Latest reviews have stated that Gambit's cameo wasn't in the film, just a scene where Remy Lebeau aka Gambit's name shows up in the computer database when Mystique highlights it. Will the Gambit action cameo scene be cut? Is it still in? Who knows! Here's what Mr. Bamford had to say... "I was given the part as Gambit by the director [Bryan Singer] basically for my look. I was working on the show as Wolverine's stunt double for rehearsals, and I was called in to be looked at for Gambit. I was on the set the next day shooting the scene. I could not continue to double Wolverine on film because of a rehearsal injury. The scene that I was involved in as Gambit took only one day to shoot. It was a very small part, a cameo. I did not do any screen test or audition, as I mentioned before, the director just looked at me and picked me. I have no contract for the next film and I am sure that they will re-cast the character w/ a better known actor. If the next one shoots in Vancouver again, there is a good chance that I will work on it though, in some other capacity. I would love to continue to play the role as I am an avid martial artist, one of my favorite weapons is the staff!!! I would have a lot of fun doing it, but it is most likely not in the cards though." Lets hope we get to see his cameo on the DVD (If it isn't in the theatrical cut)! (4-22) X2 in EW - The latest issue of Entertainnment Weekly features a Summer Movie Preview section...X2 gets its only little feauture too: "I always get in trouble for telling too much, or not enough," says Hugh Jackaman, aka stiletto-knuckled mutant Wolverine. He's trying to explain the plot of "X2: X-Men United," the sequel to 2000's superhero blockbuster "X-Men" -- without explaining too much. "You know about the President being assasinated?" Huh? What? The President gets assasinated? Jackman hesitates. "Or not being assasinated -- an attempt being made on his life?" Okay, not quite as shocking a development -- still, plenty risky in these jumpy times. Jackman seems to sense impending controversy. "The states are pretty high in 'X2', he says, retreating into safely vague. "Not that this is 'War and Peace' or anything, but there's a little more meat on the bones than you'd find in your normal superhero movie." Indubitably. New mutants (including Alan Cumming's Nightcrawler) and new villains (Brian Cox's mutant-fearing general, William Stryker) assure a melle of epic proportions -- something that didn't quite materialize in the original..."If people have criticized the first movie to me, it's always 'We want to see you kicking some ass,'" says Jackman. "At first I was like, what do you mean? And then I watched "X1" and I realized its true, there's not a lot of that going on." He certainly compensates this time around: Wolverine goes bloody berserk when the military breaks down mutant leader Professor Xavier's door, then later locks claws with Kelly Hu's villanous Deathstrike. (4-17) X3. Who's Signed? Who Want To Come Back? - E! Online's Ink Tank recently got to chat with the cast/crew of X2 at a press junket ealier this week.
