The Walk itself was very well-run. We walked on paved and sometimes covered trails, and there were plenty of pit-stops along the way. Above is the Green Bay trail and to the left is a Grab & Go, where we got drinks, snacks and bathrooms. |
The end of Day One! DAY ONE- 20 MILES Kenosha, WI - North Chicago, IL |
The clouds loomed overhead all day, but we were lucky enough to get our tent up and our gear inside seconds before it started to pour. Some others weren't so lucky. We got soaked anyway running around helping to put up other walker's tents. That is actually one of my favorite memories from the weekend. Everyone helped everyone else. |
The food was even good! We ate breakfast and dinner at the campsite, and we ate bag lunches at a Pit Stop on the route. |
Everyone was hurting from blisters or pains. Each Pit Stop and Grab-n-Go had First Aid volunteers. We also carried our own blister and first aid kits. Here we are having a mini-foot triage. |
