If you can get past the fact you drill into your X, I found It does work to keep the rear window clear. I came up with my own version of the Canadian Install , Just click the pic |

Basket Net |
Good way of keeping items in the basket, I've put it to good use on long trips. It can also double for keeping cargo inside the X, and can be used as a pet divider. |

Simple solution, the only problem I have found with the net is the replacement hooks, more so the front ones that go through the air dam. If you tighten them too much, you can actually pull the screws out of the head. To stop this from happening, I cut down some 1/4 plastic pipe equal to the thickness of the dam, and made them into sleeves for the screws. I can now tighten them down fully without pulling the screw into the thread of the rack. Suggestion, at least once a year, pull out the screws and lube them up, they might rust or bind in the rack otherwise. |
A little add-on, I recently changed my interior ceiling cargo hooks to the newer metal type from the 2002 Xterras. Not to waste the old ones, I simply bolted them into the basket. I always found in hard to hook regular bungies into the basket grid for smaller loads, not a problem anymore. I have since painted them gray so they blend in more. |
