:Tiynarea Weyr::Tripaldi Weyr

At the Weyr Sabriana fit in well with the daily routine. She didn’t mind the chores and found the lessons quite interesting. She’d never truly realized how complicated dragons were and she enjoyed learning everything she could about them. At night though, she would lie awake on her bed in the barracks and think of her home. She wasn’t even sure if her family had been told of her situation. She tried to convince herself she didn’t care, but she never could lie to herself for long. Mostly she regretted not inviting Sarine to come with her. Her father would probably try to force Sarine into the marriage she had skipped out on now.

Sabriana heaved a sigh as she lay in bed. She carefully avoided all thoughts that might lead her mind towards Rodilon. She was still angry at him for relinquishing her so quickly. Added to that was her anger for his not coming to see her off that day. She might have forgiven him if not for that and now every thought of him was pain accompanied by uncontrollable anger.

Sabriana cursed herself silently for letting him sneak into her thoughts once again and got up. She put her clothes on and silently left the barracks to walk around the Weyr. She knew she wouldn’t get any sleep tonight until she got her mind on something else and perhaps the walk would soothe her mind and distract her thoroughly.

Sabriana headed down a long hallway she hadn’t explored before and found a very humid little room at the end of it. She looked around in confusion, wondering why this room was kept so muggy until she saw the fire lizard eggs in the fireplace. She gasped in delight and kneeled down on the floor in front of the eggs. As a little girl she’d always wanted a fire lizard but her father had not allowed it, believing them to be annoying pests and not worth the food to keep them. Sabriana grinned as she realized that her father could have nothing to say about it now and as she noticed one of the eggs was beginning to rock side to side she jumped up and grabbed the bowl of meat off a nearby table.

Sabriana watched in fascinated anticipation as the little egg rocked more and more vigorously. Finally, when she was beginning to think she would have to help the poor creature from its shell a crack ran down the side and she gasped as a tiny gold nose pushed through the shell. She helped the gold out by pulling away loose shards and laughed in delight as the gold fire lizard creeled in hunger. She held out a piece of meat and smiled as she felt the swirling emotions of the little gold as she devoured the bite of meat and creeled for more.

Before long the gold’s hunger was sated and Sabriana scooped up the little hatchling, her belly distended from all the meat she’d eaten. A happy smile on her face, her troubles forgotten, at least for the time being, Sabriana stood and headed back to the barracks where she curled up and fell asleep, the little gold nestled in her arms.
